Burn Me Once Burn With Me (Ruby Grayson) novel Chapter 671

"A strategy? Why should I believe a word you say, and why should I waste my time?"

Morgan Blackwood's patience was nearly gone.

Rosalie suddenly let out a soft laugh, her eyes darting around with a hint of flattery. She rubbed her hands together and offered an ingratiating smile. "I heard them call you Mr. Blackwood."

Gathering her courage, Rosalie took a step forward. "Mr. Blackwood, it won't take up much of your time. Just fetch me a pen right here. It's getting late, and you need your rest. I certainly wouldn't dare ask you to wait around for me."

"As for why you should believe me? Although I haven't spent much time with Miss Ruby, I've lived long enough and seen plenty of women in my day. I am a woman myself, and no one understands a woman's mind better than another woman."

Rosalie tried her best to make her voice sound convincing, carefully weighing every word to persuade him.

Morgan found himself slightly swayed by her persistence.

He narrowed his eyes, a final trace of guardedness lingering in his predatory gaze. "Are you sure you actually have a way?"

"Absolutely!"

Seeing a glimmer of hope, Rosalie nodded emphatically.

Her eyes were earnest, making it look as though she genuinely wanted to offer him the perfect advice.

Morgan scanned the room, then suddenly stood up, brushing off imaginary dust from his tailored trousers.

"Alright, I'll give you a chance. If you can really make her change her mind, I won't treat you poorly."

Morgan finally relented.

Rosalie's eyes lit up instantly, shining with an unnatural brightness. "Great! I promise I won't let you down! Don't you worry, I'll have it on your desk first thing tomorrow morning."

Morgan gave a lazy nod, then pointed at his assistant. "Leo, give her the office keys. Tomorrow morning, if there isn't some so-called 'strategy' on my desk..."

He raised an eyebrow, leaving the threat unspoken. Yet, the air in the room seemed to compress, making it hard to breathe.

Leo quickly unclipped a key from his belt and shoved it into Rosalie's hand.

Her heart leaped into her throat. She nodded heavily, keeping her head bowed as she waited for Morgan to leave.

Leo lingered for a moment, shooting Rosalie a warning glare before stepping out and leaving the door slightly ajar.

Once the footsteps outside faded away, absolute silence fell over the corridor. Rosalie tiptoed to the door and quietly clicked it shut.

She scanned the expansive office, her gaze locking onto the massive bookcase.

Not too long ago, Ruby had been here. Rosalie had been pinned down in this very room, forced to watch helplessly as her husband left with Ruby. She had been left behind as dead weight—or rather, a hostage.

A bitter taste coated Rosalie's mouth.
