Her big, round eyes were dark and shiny, her eyelashes were long, and she looked fair, soft, and adorable. She was an extremely pretty little girl.
Why did she look so familiar, though?
While Nishay was still stunned, Ellie became terrified as well.
She turned her little face away and hid in Wendy's arms.
Seeing the elderly lady on the screen, Wendy quickly reacted and smiled.
"You must be Anneliese's grandmother, right? Hello there."
Hearing Wendy's voice, Anneliese immediately stopped what she was doing and leaned toward the camera.
"Ms. Chalmont, this is my grandmother. Grandma, she's the person who saved me from Timothy back then."
She briefly introduced them, and Nishay thanked her gratefully.
Wendy smiled and waved it off. "It was nothing, really. You don't need to be so polite. Besides, I feel a real connection with Anneliese. She shares a deep bond with my family, and my granddaughter is very fond of her."
As she spoke, she lowered her head and gently rubbed Ellie's hair. "Ellie, the pretty lady is here. Aren't you going to say hi?"
Ellie was a little frightened by the unfamiliar face. Her little head moved slightly, as if she was struggling inside.
Grandma didn't know about Ellie's psychological condition, so she simply smiled and said, "So this is your granddaughter. She's really beautiful. At first glance, she looked like Anneliese when she was little."
Wendy paused. "Ellie looks a lot like Anneliese when she was young?"
"Of course! I was surprised by their resemblance. It's a pity I don't have Anneliese's childhood photos with me; otherwise, you'd definitely be shocked too. No wonder they get along so well."
Grandma nodded earnestly.
She remembered when Anneliese had just been adopted, looking rather thin and frail.
After two months of good care, she had become incredibly pretty, though her personality had stayed introverted and shy.
Whether it was her looks or her timid expressions, she looked exactly like the little girl on the screen.
Anneliese also laughed, touching her own face.
"Yesterday, my best friend told me our side profiles look the same."
She then spoke to Ellie, who was still hiding her face. "Ellie, why don't you show your face? Let's see if we really look alike, okay?"
No one knew whether Ellie was really curious or if she simply relaxed when she heard Anneliese's voice.
The little girl quietly came out of her grandmother's arms and looked at the screen. Anneliese blinked at her playfully, then turned her head left and right, adjusting her face so Ellie could compare.
