Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 99

When Willow opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a hospital bed.

The overhead lights were bright, the walls a blinding white. She was no stranger to hospitals or that sterile, chemical scent hanging in the air.

What happened to her? Why was she here?

She pushed herself up on her elbows, trying to sit. Swallowing, she realized her throat felt raw and painfully dry.

Just then, the door to her room swung open. Willow glanced over, and when she saw who had just walked in, her mind briefly went blank. Then, all at once, the memories came flooding back.

It didn't take more than a few seconds for it all to hit her.

That man—he'd had the nerve to show up again. She'd been so rattled she'd thrown up and passed out right in front of him.

She was pretty sure she'd even been sick all over him...

Willow's gaze flicked to his clothes, silently checking.

Sure enough, Beasley had changed. He wore a pale sweater and tailored slacks, looking cool and collected, every bit the picture of effortless elegance.

But all Willow could think about was how disheveled he must've looked before, covered in her mess. A flicker of mean-spirited satisfaction glimmered in her eyes.

Beasley noticed she was awake, but his sharp features didn't soften at all. He was holding a stack of test results as he entered, his expression unreadable.

Seeing him approach, Willow instinctively tensed.

Beasley caught the wary, anxious set of her face, something complicated flickering in his gaze.

When he'd brought her to his family's hospital, he'd asked the doctors to run a full panel of tests.

The results had just come in: she wasn't pregnant, and there was no sign she'd ever had an abortion.

So why had she been sick? Why the repeated retching?
