Meanwhile, at Opal Residences.
"What the hell is STAR trying to pull, dropping a tweet like that at a time like this?"
York already had enough on his plate today. It had taken a minor miracle to suppress all the trending topics online that painted Rosamund in a bad light, and now, just as things were calming down, a brand new scandal was blowing up all over social media. It was one fire after another with no end in sight.
Now, the online busybodies, those armchair critics who thrived on drama, were tagging the film's production company, demanding they pick their cast strictly according to STAR's so-called list.
It was ridiculous.
"Who does he think he is, telling us how to cast our own movie?"
York's frustration only grew as he spoke. He slammed his phone facedown on the bar, deciding he'd rather not see any more of it.
"Relax." Beasley poured him a glass of red wine and slid it across the counter.
York glanced at the rich, fragrant wine, but he was too proud to admit defeat. "I'm not nervous. Just annoyed, that's all."
He snatched up the wineglass, tipped his head back, and downed it in one go.
Beasley's villa at Opal Residences had become York's regular refuge when he didn't want to go back to Baycrest. Tonight, knowing Beasley would be here, York had driven straight over.
Setting the empty glass back on the counter, York's expression turned guilty. "This is all on me. I went through so many options, and yet I still managed to pick such a ticking time bomb as the male lead for Rosa."
Beasley was never one for comforting words, but he was a master at solving problems.
"That STAR, or rather, the person working behind him, isn't just some ordinary troublemaker." Beasley softly swirled his wine, not in any rush to taste it.
York looked at Beasley, realization dawning.
"You're right! That so-called exposé video—not only is the image perfectly clear, but you can hear every word of the conversation, almost like someone was standing right next to them with a mic…"
