“Ten million over the market price?” Willow thought she must have misheard, so she double-checked with the agent. “Are you sure you got that right?”
She’d left the entire sale of her villa to the agency, not even bothering to show up for the contract signing. For four months, the house had been on the market with not a single nibble. Then, out of the blue, someone bought it—at ten million above its value?
“Miss Sheffield, you heard me right, and I didn’t misspeak,” the real estate agent replied, voice practically buzzing. “You asked us to list your Baycrest Villas property when the market rate was just over twenty million. We decided to try listing it at forty million, just to see what would happen, and this client just came in, didn’t even blink, and bought the place outright. The payment’s already cleared, and the funds will be in your account by tomorrow morning.”
Willow did a quick calculation in her head—even after taxes and the agency’s cut, she’d walk away with nearly thirty million.
Way more than she’d expected.
Who on earth was this big spender who tossed money around like it was nothing? Didn’t they even check the going rate before buying?
Even as she benefited, Willow couldn’t help but feel a little like a swindler.
The agent was still gushing congratulations in her ear, running out of ways to say how lucky she was before finally hanging up.
Juliette emerged from the bathroom, catching sight of Willow leaning against the wooden table, phone in hand and lost in thought. She walked over and asked, “Everything okay?”
Willow blinked, about to tell Juliette that someone had finally bought her villa at Baycrest, when her phone buzzed again.
She glanced down, frowning.
“Who is it? Why aren’t you picking up?” Juliette peered over her shoulder, reading aloud, “Royal Glow Jewelers?”
“You buying or selling jewelry?” Juliette teased.
“Selling.” Willow answered, pressing the answer button at the same time. “Hello?”
She was already bracing herself for the call.
Sure enough, after listening for a moment, her suspicions were confirmed.
