Beasley knew there was a good chance Willow wouldn't reply, but he still typed out the message and hit send.
When Willow received Beasley's WhatsApp, she and Juliette were curled up together under a thick, warm duvet, deep in conversation.
Naturally, the topic had drifted to Lionel. After all, Lionel had stood up for her tonight, putting Evelyn in her place and making her eat her words.
"Did your phone just buzz?" Juliette paused mid-sentence, glancing at Willow.
Willow's phone was on the nightstand. At Juliette's question, she reluctantly slipped out from the cozy covers to grab it.
She hadn't gone back to her flat in Cliffhaven Gardens tonight—she'd come straight over to Juliette's instead. The plan was to stay the night, then head to Eastvale together tomorrow for French food with Lionel.
One look at her screen and Willow's expression darkened.
"Something wrong?" Juliette asked, pulling herself up as well.
Willow switched off the screen and tossed the phone back on the nightstand. "It's Beasley."
She really didn't have the energy for him.
Juliette, on the other hand, was curious. "He messaged you? What did he say?"
Willow slid back under the covers, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with Juliette against the headboard. "He wanted to know if I know Lionel."
Juliette blinked in surprise, then quickly put the pieces together. "It's Evelyn, isn't it? That ex-sister-in-law of yours must've gone running to Beasley to complain."
Willow gave a chilly little laugh. "Or maybe it's his dear friend York."
