Lionel said, "Zachariah is my father."
He turned to York. "Mr. Sinclair, do you know my father?"
York's gaze lingered on Lionel, this time with a hint of curiosity. He shook his head. "Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure just yet."
Lionel couldn't help but notice York's odd reaction, but before he could say anything, York asked, "Then do you know a woman named Willow?"
Evelyn, who had also sensed something off about York, visibly stiffened when she heard Willow's name.
Lionel's striking eyes lit up, a spark of interest flickering there. "Mr. Sinclair, you know Willow as well?"
Lionel's question was really just a roundabout way of confirming he did, in fact, know Willow. And, of course, he had to feign ignorance of York's connection—after all, it was only through Cordelia that Lionel had started paying attention to York and his inner circle lately.
Given that York and Beasley were close friends, Lionel figured York must know about whatever was going on between Beasley and Willow, right?
Honestly, Lionel was more than a little curious about the possibility of Beasley and Willow getting together. If that actually happened, Juliette would probably come running to him in tears. He almost looked forward to it. After all these years of knowing Juliette, he'd never once seen her truly laugh or cry—her emotional composure was almost unnerving. The only time she'd shown even a hint of agitation was that day at the bistro, when he mentioned Willow was one of the women rumored to be involved with Beasley.
"Willow? Who's that?" Cordelia asked, puzzled, voicing the same question that was clearly on Melinda's mind.
