Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 371

Smack!

Mrs. Blackwell slapped Adrian hard across the face, then fainted from the sheer force of her anger.

Daniel rushed forward to catch her, calling for doctors to help move her to another room.

Adrian didn't follow. He turned and went back into his room.

“How much longer? Why don’t you get some sleep?”

Isabel said nothing.

His calm demeanor was getting on her nerves.

Adrian even poured her a glass of water.

That only irritated her more. She turned her head and closed her eyes. Out of sight, out of mind.

Adrian sat beside her, and after a while, he too fell silent.

Daniel had wanted to come in and update Adrian on Mrs. Blackwell's condition, but on second thought, he sent a text instead.

Adrian replied curtly and then closed his eyes, resting alongside Isabel.

The night grew deeper.

The hospital room was so quiet it seemed both occupants had fallen asleep.

But a muffled grunt from Adrian shattered the silence.

Isabel’s eyes flew open. He had coughed up a mouthful of dark blood.

His lips tightened for a moment as the drug took full effect, and then he collapsed in front of her.

Daniel hadn't dared to sleep. Years of running around with Adrian had conditioned him. In the dead of night, every sound was amplified. He heard a thud and immediately pushed the door open.

He saw Isabel putting a pill into Adrian’s mouth.

“Ma’am…”

Isabel ignored him. After feeding Adrian the pill, she stood up and left.

Daniel had someone move Adrian onto the hospital bed, then called for a doctor.

Dr. Lawson hadn’t left the hospital. It wasn’t exactly ethical, but he was dying to know how Isabel had done it.

He also knew she wouldn’t actually let Adrian die.

After examining Adrian, his eyes lit up. “He's completely fine! The restorative power of X-1 is incredible!”

All Daniel heard was that Adrian was fine, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
