“Would your grandmother be acting like this? Is she forcing you, or have you forced her into this corner?”
“Her life was saved by Isabel’s mother. Is there anything wrong with her favoring Isabel a little?”
“Hasn’t the Blackwell family been in enough chaos because of you lately?”
“Your own sister has been suspended!”
Mrs. Blackwell couldn’t listen anymore. “Don’t just accuse him. Let’s hear what Adrian has to say. When has he ever made a mistake?”
“He’s wrong this time!” Mr. Blackwell found his backbone for once. “If he insists on getting entangled with Selena, then he can leave the Blackwell family. I’ll act like I never had this son.”
“What nonsense are you talking!” Mrs. Blackwell’s voice rose, becoming sharp. “He gets this from you! Before we got married, didn’t you have someone you were crazy about?”
“Don’t say such things in front of the children.”
“You’re the one talking nonsense.”
“Both of you, be quiet,” old Mrs. Blackwell said, her head aching from the shouting. They weren’t here to deal with their issues, and yet they were arguing.
“All of you, go home. Don’t be a nuisance here.” She pushed Mr. Blackwell away. “I’ll go home when I’ve settled things. You don’t need to worry about me.”
“Adrian,” Catherine spoke up. “I haven’t done anything to wrong you, have I? I helped you with the Selena situation and with looking into Isabel’s identity. I even took a lot of risks going abroad. So, can you give me an explanation?”
