Five minutes later, she got another text from Madeleine.
As she read it, she smiled bitterly.
‘I will do as you told if you don’t regret about it. But remember, when this is over, the relationship between you and Zachariah would go broken. Think twice!’
Actually, Ophelia had made up her mind. Though she made this decision out of the good for Zachariah, she was actually doing something selfish so that she could prevent herself from being found miserable by him someday in the future.
She chose to get away from Zachariah selfishly.
‘Madeleine, I have made up my mind!’
Then she texted her back, ‘Take action tonight.’
After Madeleine sent another text to confirm, Ophelia got no more text from her.
She returned to the villa. Then she headed to the baby room. When seeing Ted, she looked a bit awkward, “Ahem, did Zachariah do anything to you yesterday?”
Ted shook his head.
Ophelia was about to continue, but she had no idea what to say.
Ted looked at her, with his eyes filled with mixed feelings, “Ophe…Young Mister, you may spend some time with Tommy. I gotta go.”
Ophelia took a glimpse at him and nodded, showing no intention to ask him to address her in another way.
She spent a few hours with Tommy in the room. Then she texted Zachariah, in which she attached a picture of Tommy’s sleeping face.
Though in the midst of a business conference, Zachariah still couldn’t help smiling when seeing the picture and also the text.
‘Honey, meet me in Room 2016, Marriott Love Hotels. I will dress as you have been expecting—a nurse suit. And I got another big surprise for you. So don’t bother coming back for lunch at noon. I am planning for an unexpected surprise for you—from your loving sweetheart.’
Though it was just a mere smile of Zachariah, it actually stunned all the senior managers present.
They all stared at him, who was obviously getting delighted. There was no doubt that it triggered great curiosity among them—what kind of text would it be so magical enough to put a smile on Zachariah’s face in the midst of a formal conference, who always remained stern in public places.
Then he just put away his phone, “Ahem, keep going.”
Though greatly curious, those senior managers were not daring enough to ask about his private matters.
Because of his mood getting delighted, the atmosphere turned to be more relaxing during the conference. Undoubtedly, that was some happy hours for all.
Zachariah spent the daytime on all kinds of conferences.
When it was 6:00 PM, he hurried to end the conference and put on his suit to leave. Seeing that, one of the old senior managers said, “Well, Mr. Chambers is gonna be domesticated.”
Hearing that, the rest of them all smiled. However, none of them would expect that this domesticated husband they once assumed would then turn into a monster, who forced them to be workaholic 24/7 in the following days. For the rest of their lives, they all worked in horror and extreme cautiousness, fearing that they would get themselves fired even because of one little mistake.
Zachariah went back to the Chambers’s Residence. But he didn’t find Ophelia there. While Tommy was tended by Helena. What was more, Ted, who should be guarding Tommy all the time, also disappeared.
“Mom, where is Ophelia?” asked Zachariah while he was playing with Tommy.
“She said she had an appointment with you. Where are you going? Is it necessary to keep it just like a secret?” asked Helena confused.
Zachariah smiled, answering in an unusual tone, “Mom, that’s the secret between me and Ophelia.”
Helena couldn’t help giggling for his aloof-looking son was getting more and more easy-going because of Ophelia.
Zachariah took over the bouquet, grinning.
He had never expected such a surprise from Ophelia, which was commonly prepared by him. But it felt so much different when it was Ophelia who planned all these. His heart was softened in sweetness.
What a romantic lady driving him crazy!
He then took over the access card from an usherette to swipe open the door. As soon as he entered, his sight was filled with white. Everything in the room was decorated in white as pure as a blissful wedding.
He walked over to the counter, on which there placed two glasses of milk. Beneath the glasses, there was a note. He took it to have a look.
‘Honey, that’s the milk of love I specially prepared for you. Do remember to empty both the glasses.’
Zachariah showed no suspicion. He took one of the glasses to drink. But as soon as the milk ran into his mouth, he tasted something weird. However, since it was prepared by Ophelia, he still drained both glasses without hesitation.
After that, he walked around the nicely decorated room, feeling happy.
About ten minutes later, he suddenly felt like burning all over. His sanity started to slip away gradually.
He shook his head violently to keep his mere soberness. However, he felt like being bitten by millions of ants. The desire raided him, too sudden to be avoided.
He fell onto the bed. Strong lust mounted on his soberness. In less than two minutes, the desire took the upper hand and started to control his brain.
Ophelia, who was watching on a monitoring screen behind all these, stared at him in great pain, with her eyes filled with unstoppable tears.
Madeleine put her hands on hers, “Ophelia, if you change your mind, you still have time to walk into the room right now. You know how strong the philter is. That’s the strongest ever. He will probably get harmed if he kept himself abstinent this time.”
Closing her eyes, Ophelia said with pain, “Ted, bring Cora in.”
Ted took a look at her. He then did as she told.
