Billionaire Lost to His Surrogate In A Love Game novel Chapter 251

Gwynlan’s face darkened, but she she was not so agitated as before.

"Miss Lowe, I know you and that friend of yours are born poor and never think before you speak, and I can’t stop wondering how you were brought up. You said that Zachariah is not the father of the baby in Cora’s womb. Are you suggesting that Cora is unfaithful to him?"

Ophelia didn’t know what to reply because it indeed was a thoughtless remark.

Zachariah pinched her waist a little while Ophelia took the hint immediately.

Ophelia replied, "You took me wrong, Mrs. Fletcher. I didn’t mean that way. But if you must assume your daughter is cheating with some other man, I have nothing to say."

Gwylan gave a sneer.

Zachariah held Ophelia’s waist tighter and chimed in, "Mrs. Fletcher, Ophelia is hungry and I’m going to take her out to eat now. Please look after Cora, and I’ll be back in the evening."

Gwylan, nevertheless, stopped Zachariah and said, "Zachariah, be honest with me. Are you going to marry Cora or not?"

Zachariah knit his brows.

Seeing that, Ophelia answered Gwylan in a proper way, "Mrs. Fletcher, I know you watched Zachariah grow up, but do you think it’s appropriate to ask him such a question in his wife’s presence? Nobody forces Miss Fletcher to be the other woman, and I can put up with her, but you’ve gone too far by egging him on to divorce me."

Gwylan’s eyes were fixed on Zachariah. "Zachariah, I’m waiting for your clear answer."

Zachariah replied, "Mrs. Fletcher, my wife is going to give birth very soon, and I can’t divorce her now, legally or emotionally."

In other words, Zachariah wouldn’t divorce Ophelia now. In this love triangle, Cora had to swallow the bitter pill for the moment. As for the future, it was hard to say whether he would marry her or not.

It was such a vague answer given by Zachariah.

Mrs. Fletcher heard that and her face clouded over with anger.

"Zachariah, Cora had a miscarriage for you, but meanwhile, you’re with your wife and your unborn baby. I can tell it’s a safe bet for you anyway, eh? So, you were playing around with Cora, right?" scoffed Mrs. Fletcher.

Zachariah gave a frown.

It was unknown what Mr. Harrison said on the other end of the line, but Gwylan continued, "Mr. Harrison, it’s just a best-selling author, and I believe your corporation must have signed countless best-selling authors like her. As long as you fire her, the Fletcher Group will invest in your publishing business. You’re a wise decision maker, and I don’t think you aren’t aware that it’ll be a good bargain for you to trade a best-selling author for our support."

Mr. Harrison said something on the other end of the line before Gwylan’s face darkened. "Mr. Harrison, do you think the Fletcher Group isn’t good enough for you? The Fletcher family isn’t the greatest family of the city, but we are no puppets. Think it through, and I hope you won’t see the woods for the trees."

Gwylan turned grim upon hearing Mr. Harrison’s answer. "Mr. Harrison, I think you’re biting off more than you can chew."

Gwylan still looked sullen after listening for a while. "Mr. Harrison, I always thought you were a smart man, but it didn’t occur to me that you would give up the great interests for a mere author. I wonder if you’re actually a philanthropist!"

She hesitated for a moment and went on, "Mr. Harrison, it’s better for you to hold your horses. Once you offended the Fletcher family, your business would be affected. Why would you do that to yourself?"

Gwylan’s face brightened gradually as she was listening to the long monologue on the other end. At last, she smiled, "Mr. Harrison, I knew you’re smart. Our investment funds will be transferred to your business account provided you dismiss Madeleine. Indeed, publishing business is not so profitable as other business, but the Fletcher Group has planned to try our hand at it in the last few years, so I can agree to what you’ve asked."

Gwylan paused and smiled again, "Mr. Harrison, so we’ve reached an agreement on that, and I hope you’ll give me a satisfactory answer. After all, I’m afraid it’s a stupid thing to do to rub the Fletcher family the wrong way for a mere best-selling author."

When she hung up, Gwylan’s beautiful face was distorted with fury. "Madeleine Lowe, aren’t you good at fighting? Don’t blame me for leaving you no way out in this city since you humiliated me yesterday. The Fletcher family is not just a name."
