Mrs. Conduibh wiped her mouth with the handkerchief again and asked, "Have you finished eating?"
Madeleine pointed at the meat and vegetables on the table and replied, "As you can see, there’s much food left, so of course we haven’t finished eating yet. Just say whatever you want to say, Mrs. Conduibh." "And then you may get lost." Madeleine said the last remark to herself.
Mrs. Conduibh simply sat there waiting for them. "You guys go ahead. When you’ve finished the meal, let’s get some tea."
Ignoring her, Madeleine and Ophelia enjoyed the delicious hot pot to the fullest.
Annoyance showed on Mrs. Conduibh’s face again while she was watching the two having the delicious food.
She hated the smell of hot pot, which was smoky and greasy. As a well-educated rich lady, she was very particular about how to behave, and she would never go to any noisy place like a hot pot restaurant.
It was unknown whether they did it on purpose or not, but it took Madeleine and Ophelia over two hours and a half to finish this meal. Each time Mrs. Conduibh wanted to say something, Madeleine would blurt out, "You may leave now if you have something to attend to, Mrs. Conduibh."
Even if she was furious, Mrs. Conduibh could do nothing but hold back her anger.
Finally, Madeleine and Ophelia finished eating. Mrs. Conduibh couldn’t stand the smell anymore and rushed out at once. Madeleine said happily, "I thought she could last longer. There’s nothing more obnoxious in this world than a pretentious rich lady. I could tell how much she loathed this place, but she must feign generosity, and it makes me sick. I didn’t even get the best out of me today!"
Staring at the pile of bones on the table, Ophelia remained silent.
"Let’s go. After all, she’s Tassach’s mother. If she waits too long, she will vent her anger on him," Ophelia commented fairly.
Meanwhile, Madeleine curled her lips.
They walked out of the restaurant and Ophelia asked, "Do you want to go anywhere else, Mrs. Conduibh?"
Mrs. Conduibh replied, "I just called and made a reservation. Let’s go in my car."
"I appreciate your kindness, Mrs. Conduibh, but we can go in our own car. Please lead the way ahead of us."
Mrs. Conduibh agreed. She just had to be polite and ask.
She got into her car, while Ophelia and Madeleine got into theirs.
When Madeleine walked away, Mrs. Conduibh’s face darkened a little and she said to Ophelia, "Let’s go."
In the box, Mrs. Conduibh handed her designer bag to the waitress and said, "We want some green tea, first-class."
"One moment please, Mrs. Conduibh," said the waitress courteously.
When the waitress left, Mrs. Conduibh said with a sullen face, "Ophelia, I came to you this time for my stupid son. I don’t know how you reached him again, but I have to admit that you’ve played your cards well. Now he thinks of nothing else but you. Back then, I withdrew the lawsuit against you for selling trade secrets for the sake of him, and I thought you would behave yourself from then on and not contact him anymore. However, I never expected that you would appear again five years later. Just tell me what you want."
Ophelia was amused.
She gave a smile at once. "Mrs. Conduibh, your worry is probably misplaced. Now I have my own family, and soon, a new member is going to join us. I just want to live a peaceful and happy life, and we won’t be in contact that often."
Arms crossed, Mrs. Conduibh explained, "Don’t get me wrong. I know you’re the wife of the heir of the Chambers family now, and that you turn your nose up at Tassach, but Tassach is still deeply in love with you. Could you block his number and ignore any of his text messages or calls? You may ask for anything you want from me, and I’ll agree to it, as long as I can afford it."
"Do you want to buy off me like what you did five years ago, Mrs. Conduibh?"
