After glancing at her, I reached over to the side, and Mr. Brown immediately gave me something. I turned to face her with a relaxed smile and replied, "I have my reasons for staying."
I threw the file bag I was holding across the table arrogantly.
The bag whirled and slid toward Mia like it was figuring out where to go.
After stiffening briefly, Mia cooly raised her palm and caught the bag that had slid in front of her with a "smack."
She stared at my face and didn't say a word. Instead, she kept staring at my face as if she was trying to guess what might be inside.
I shrugged at her and gestured to indicate that she could open it herself.
While staring intently at my face, she slowly picked up the file bag, unzipped it, and pulled out the documents inside.
Joshua, who was sitting in the middle, nervously fixed his gaze on the documents Mia was slowly pulling out of the bag.
After Mia took out the documents, she finally withdrew her gaze from me and looked at the contents.
At first, she looked surprised. Then, she calmed down, smirked, and raised the sheets of paper to me. "Looks like you’re playing a trick, Chloe! It's been over a month since Atticus disappeared, but you’re telling me that this piece of paper is Atticus's authorization letter. I can’t believe it!"
The journalists surged forward, trying to snatch the documents from her hands.
Joshua's eyes suddenly narrowed as he looked at me.
Mia continued, "Or... did you have something to do with Atticus’s disappearance?"
Her words instantly aroused the interest of the journalists in the conference room. They all turned their cameras toward me.
As she spoke, she put the documents back into the bag, then, following my lead, threw the bag back at me.
"Just leave! Don't embarrass yourself. This won't end well. Be careful; someone might report Atticus’s disappearance to the police. You won’t be able to deceive anyone with those fake papers then." After Mia finished speaking, she shouted to her entourage, "Escort her out!"
A magnetic voice sounded at the door. "How ignorant!"
Mia’s eyes widened as she looked at the door. Atlas walked in, pushing a wheelchair.
A group of reporters was also behind Atlas, but the logos on the badges of those reporters intimidated the other journalists.
At this moment, Joshua suddenly stood up and exclaimed in surprise, "Mr. Atticus!"
