Another shadow fell upon the car's roof, a long blade slashing viciously toward Charlene's position.
A flash of anger flickered in Daniel's eyes. With a swift motion of his hand, a surge of spiritual energy struck, obliterating the attacker on the spot.
But this short delay was enough for Silas to vanish into the darkness, leaving only the silence of the night.
"Interesting," Daniel muttered under his breath as he kicked aside the stone blocking the road. When he returned to the car, he found Charlene pale, clearly shaken by the close call.
"It's taken care of," he said, starting the engine. "I'll get you home."
Charlene still felt uneasy and said, "Daniel, do you think this is retaliation from the Quinton family? I've heard that Hugo holds a grudge like no other. You should be careful."
"Don't worry," Daniel reassured her with a smile. "The signing's done, and the youth cream is ready. The only thing left is to dilute it, bottle it, and get it on the market quickly."
"Right," Charlene nodded, but her gaze lingered on him, worry still evident in her eyes as he drove off.
After a few moments of contemplation, Daniel made a sharp turn and headed back to the scene of the attack. He took his time, thoroughly examining the area. It didn't take long before he found something out of the ordinary.
Alden rushed over as soon as he received the call. When he saw Daniel, he quickly stepped forward. "Mr. Ashcroft!"
"I'm looking for someone," Daniel said, handing over a small metal tag he had found.
Alden glanced at it, his face blanching in shock. "T-The Shadowspire Syndicate?"
"The Shadowspire Syndicate?" Daniel raised an eyebrow.
Alden nodded grimly. "It's a notorious assassination organization. Even members of the outer circle must be skilled martial artists to join."
Alden had proven to be capable. With the Obsidian Group assisting in the search, all Daniel had to do now was wait patiently.
Silas may have escaped, but Daniel was confident in his own abilities. Silas' meridians had been severely damaged, and he would need medicine to heal. Whoever purchased healing medicine during this time would be the key to finding him!
…
At the Taylor family's traditional medicine store, Luciana yawned as she closed the medical book in her hands. She was about to lock up for the night when suddenly, a large hand clamped over her mouth.
"Don't make a sound, or you won't like the consequences," a rough voice warned. The figure swiftly locked the shop door before turning his gaze to Luciana.
Luciana trembled with fear as she cast a quick glance at the man.
Silas' right side was drenched in blood, and he was painfully aware that the more out of place he looked, the quicker he would be found. He had disguised himself to blend in, but his sunken eyes gave him an unnerving appearance.
