Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 69

"I just did some calculations. I'll be able to gather 300 million dollars once I sell all of my assets. Although we're nowhere near the one-billion-dollar goal, the money will still be able to take some stress off our shoulders," Conor spoke up at that moment.

Laila added, "I'll go through the company's accounting records too. Back then, Ashcroft Group had many clients. Some of them had yet to cough up the payment that was detailed in their contracts. I think there should be around 200 million dollars, give or take.

"Also, once Ashcroft Group begins its operations, I can sort out an arrangement with the local banks and see if they can let us take out mortgages."

Laila began charting out her plans.

Daniel just waved a hand. "Mr. Fuentes, Ms. Ballard, I told you before that you just have to focus on running the company. I'll come up with a solution to gather the money needed."

It was true that he didn't have money at the moment. Then again, no amount of riches in this world would be able to measure the worth of his capabilities.

Just the fact that he owned a huge batch of herbal formulas was a big deal. Even if he were to publicize only a few formulas, he'd be able to solve this problem without breaking a sweat.

Conor thought Daniel was hell-bent on protecting his pride, so he quickly spoke up.

"Mr. Ashcroft, I don't need that many assets."

But Daniel continued smiling while drawing to his feet. "Relax. This amount of money isn't a problem for me. If that's all, I'm going to leave now."

Laila hesitated for a moment. In the end, she didn't tell Daniel about their hardship in forming a research team.

Since Riverston Group refused to let Ashcroft Group's former employees go, Laila didn't want to add unnecessary problems to Daniel's plate. She felt that the best way to attract the former employees was to reintroduce Ashcroft Group back to the business world and find a way to reproduce the longevity genetic formula.

For regular people, one billion dollars was an astronomical sum. Still, Daniel wasn't that stressed about it.

"Although herbal formulas can net me a ton of profits, it's still no easy task for me to collect all of the ingredients."

Daniel rubbed his chin. Although he was equipped with strong cultivation skills, he still needed to put in a great deal of thought before converting his skills into something that could earn him money.

"I got it! Charlene's cosmetics company!"

A particular formula flashed through Daniel's mind at that moment. Honestly speaking, he couldn't remember how he got his hands on it.

Such formulas were nothing to look at in the cultivation world. But that formula's effects were extremely effective when it came to beauty and skincare maintenance. If Daniel could use Charlene's company as the stage to showcase the effects, the products made with the formula would definitely go viral in the markets.

It was just one billion dollars. That amount of money was nothing to a product that was destined to go viral.

That caught Daniel off guard. He could only stare at Luciana, who had suddenly gone all hostile on him, in puzzlement.

"Isn't that a little too extreme? I'm just here for herbs! Why are you calling the cops on me?" Daniel retorted while shrugging helplessly.

"Hmph! Don't think I don't know what you're planning to do! I'll have you know that my family will never sell our house to you! You can forget about manipulating me!"

Luciana gave Daniel a stink eye angrily. She looked like she had seen through whatever conniving plan Daniel had for her.

Of course, Daniel was even more confused. What the hell was going on?

He just shook his head. "You must have lost your marbles."

"Who are you calling crazy? You… You jerk!" Luciana was so furious that her cheeks flared brightly. She pointed at Daniel and started chastising him.

Daniel no longer focused on the pointless argument. Right now, all he could think about was buying enough herbs so that he could start experimenting on them. He wanted to see if he could replicate the formula on Earth.

Just as he was about to leave, the door of the apothecary was suddenly opened from the outside.
