Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 39

"Imperial green? Let me see!"

The moment the crowd heard those words, they got excited and surged forward.

Daniel smiled slightly. To him, the imperial green itself wasn't important. What was important was Selena's and Bryson's reactions.

"What are you doing? What do you want?" Bryson, tall and burly, usually got out of breath after a bit of exercise.

But now, he moved nimbly, quickly picking up the rough stone from the cutting machine and holding it in his arms.

"Mr. Walsh, let us take a look!"

"Yeah, it's been so long since we've seen imperial green here. Let us feast our eyes today!"

The crowd chimed in one after another.

But Bryson carried the stone over to Selena.

Seeing the timing was just right, Daniel sneered, "Mr. Walsh, this is my stone. No need to be so nervous."

The joyful expression on Bryson's face instantly froze.

Selena's eyes darted. "Young man, if there's anything to discuss, let's sit down and talk. Everyone else, please carry on with your business."

Seeing Selena trying to dismiss the crowd, Daniel raised his hand slightly. "Whatever it is, we can say it right here."

With Daniel taking such a firm stance, Bryson's expression turned awkward.

There were so many witnesses around, so he couldn't back out. He could only place the stone on the table reluctantly.

Ethan strolled forward, brushing his fingers over the stone. Then, he turned toward Daniel. "Good eye, young man!"

Daniel smiled and shook his head. "Sir, according to the bet, I should have won, right?"

"I can transfer the store to you right now, but on one condition—the stone is ours." Selena fixed her gaze on Daniel.

"Ms. Brook, you've certainly played your cards well."

"Young man, this stone has plenty of growth potential. One million dollars, and I'll take it!"

The crowd, eager for drama, started chiming in. They made the situation even more chaotic, leaving Selena looking visibly upset.

"A bet is a bet. If that guy wants to buy the stone, the price must go up!" Daniel uttered cheerfully.

Selena's face twitched slightly as she glanced at the stone. The green on its surface was as deep as an abyss, gnawing away at her reasoning.

"Two million dollars! This is not really that valuable. We're taking a big risk, too!"

Selena gritted her teeth, feeling as if she'd just lost money, considering the stone had come from their store. Watching its value soar left her feeling as though she'd thrown away a fortune.
