Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 187

Zidane was all smiles.

"This is business, Jennifer. This location is a key part of the Wilcox family's expansion plan into Qranross. How about you take a step back?" Zidane said as he glanced at Charlene.

Jennifer stepped forward and chimed in, "You know what's happening, Charlene. Now that Zidane is coming to Qranross, I finally have a place to go. At least I won't have to live under someone else's roof anymore!"

Daniel glanced at her. "So, you've learned to speak in riddles after a little time away? Or have you found a backer and want to settle scores with me?"

His words weren't far from the truth. Jennifer wanted to argue, but when she met Daniel's gaze, her heart shuddered.

Daniel moved closer to her. "Don't forget that we're still married!"

"You jerk! I know everything that's going on between you and Charlene!" Jennifer gritted her teeth.

"So what if you do? Want a divorce?" Daniel said nonchalantly.

"Divorce? In your dreams!" Jennifer hissed and clenched her fists.

"Then just stand by and watch!" Daniel chuckled.

Jennifer wanted to fight back, but Daniel stepped in front of Zidane and said, "You have a pair of beautiful eyes, but it's such a shame that you're blind at such a young age."

Zidane frowned. "What do you mean by that?"

Daniel shrugged. "Nothing much, just that we've secured this place. You'll have to find somewhere else."

Daniel chuckled and turned to Konner. "And who are you?"

"Me? I'm Konner Leach, a real estate manager at Elite Estates!" Konner sized up Daniel and sneered, "You're just some assistant at best, kid. Don't go taking on responsibilities beyond your reach. You'll just get yourself into trouble!"

Konner had a keen eye, though his judgment was influenced by the ID badge hanging on Daniel's chest.

Daniel didn't care, but that didn't mean others wouldn't. He pulled out a black card and raised it high. "You might want to think twice before talking to me like that."

"Oh? Everyone's trying to show off these days. Let's see what you've got…" Konner's voice trailed away mid-sentence. His eyes widened in shock.

"What's wrong? Finally figured it out?" Daniel said with a grin.
