"Ms. Larson, if you don't leave now, it'll be hard to find a cab around here," Daniel said casually.
Whitney looked up and said through gritted teeth, "This isn't over! Not by a long shot!"
With that, she angrily grabbed her bag and stormed out, looking completely deranged.
Daniel turned to Mikayla. "Are you ready, Mikayla?"
She instinctively raised a hand to touch her cheek, feeling the rough scars beneath her fingertips. A determined look filled her eyes as she replied, "I'm ready."
For her, things couldn't possibly get any worse. Even if this treatment failed, what did she have to lose?
Charlene stood up. "Mikayla, for promotional purposes, we might need to record the process of your facial treatment. Would you be okay with that?"
"Of course. That's something I should do," Mikayla agreed without hesitation.
If the treatment worked, it would be the best possible promotion—and undeniable proof of her rebirth. If it didn't, the footage wouldn't be released, so she felt no burden at all.
…
Soon, Mikayla was led to a makeup room. There was a hint of confusion in her gaze. "The treatment is happening here?"
"Yes!" Charlene smiled and took out a jar of youth cream.
The moment the cream was applied, Mikayla felt a cool, refreshing sensation. With her face already damaged, she was particularly sensitive to the feeling. As soon as the first layer was spread over her skin, it felt as if a light breeze was brushing against her face.
"This feels… strange. It's kind of itchy…" she murmured.
Daniel, standing nearby, explained, "The cream works to heal surface-level scars. Given the severity of your skin damage, it will take about three days for a full recovery."
Mikayla could hardly believe her ears. "Three days? You're saying it'll take only three days?"
Daniel chuckled. "Of course. Just wait and see the results."
Daniel pulled out two additional products. "Next, we'll focus on hydration and skin brightening. The process will take the same amount of time."
This time, Mikayla eagerly reached for the products, applying them under Charlene's guidance.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
…
Mikayla sat in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection in a daze.
For years, her scars had worn her down, stripping her of her confidence, and making her feel like a shadow of her former self. But now, her eyes sparkled with renewed life.
She suddenly turned around, grabbing Daniel's hands as tears streamed down her face. "Daniel, thank you! Thank you so much! I… I can't stop crying!"
She broke down completely, sobbing uncontrollably. Only she truly understood just how much this moment meant.
