Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 111

Charlene yawned and bumped straight into Jennifer. "Ouch, Jennifer, what's wrong?"

Jennifer didn't respond as she went upstairs, slamming the door shut.

It was obvious she had argued with Daniel again.

As Charlene walked downstairs, she felt guilty and dared not meet Daniel's eyes.

Daniel smiled and handed her breakfast.

"Jennifer is already miserable enough, Daniel. If there's anything you can do, just help her," Charlene said sympathetically.

She said it out of guilt as well. After all, she couldn't resist running to Daniel's bed last night.

Daniel shrugged. "Do you think she'd believe anything I say?"

Charlene froze for a moment and could only shake her head helplessly. Their relationship was irreconcilable, yet they were still entangled with each other.

She couldn't comprehend it.

Charlene quickly finished breakfast and left.

On the other hand, Daniel had nothing urgent to do. He planned to refine the pills for Emma's treatment. While he was at it, he also planned to prepare medicines for Luciana's illness.

He just didn't want Jennifer to know about it, which was why he told her that praying and a clean diet might help.

Jennifer seemed angry, but deep down, she couldn't help but follow his advice.

"I'm heading out. Don't think you can shake me off," Jennifer stated firmly before opening the door and leaving.

Daniel scoffed and shook his head, not paying her any mind.

The other people in the store stared at Daniel in surprise.

Everyone on the antique street knew about Isaac's status, yet Daniel dared to speak to him in such a casual manner. It was no wonder they were curious.

"Since you're here, why don't you appraise something for me?" Isaac stroked his beard.

As soon as he said that, the people in the store were stunned.

Did Isaac just ask the young man to appraise something? Who exactly was this guy?

Daniel wasn't reckless. Upon hearing Isaac's words, he clasped his hands in respect. "You're flattering me, Mr. Hayes!"

"This is not flattery. Other people might not understand it, but you surely will!" Isaac said firmly, leading Daniel upstairs.

The people in the store whispered among themselves, making guesses.
