Inside the house, Vanessa took a sip of her coffee and smiled.
"He's grown up now, so I don't have a say! It doesn't matter whether I like it or not. After all, I'm not the one who's going to spend the rest of my life with him! However, as a mother, I just hope for my child to live a good life! Honestly, I don't care much about the family she's from or whether they are rich. The key is that the two of them are compatible with each other, and she should have an upright personality!"
Vanessa was reasonable as always. Willy heard her words as he stepped in. The more he thought about it, the more he was sure of his guess. It was not a simple matter. There must be something fishy going on!
Listening to Vanessa's words, it was possible that she didn't like Lauren because she had a criminal record. However, it was unacceptable to think that she would go against her own beliefs for something that had not actually happened yet.
There was a burst of laughter again at that time.
"Vanessa, you're so generous. As for narrowminded people like us, we can only see what's right in front of our eyes..." "Oh right, Master Willy is back!"
With a cry of surprise, the two people stood up from the sofa and picked up their bags respectively. "Then, we won't bother you anymore. Let's play together another day!"
Willy nodded and greeted them. Before he could say anything, the two of them had already walked towards the door. Vanessa also politely sent the two of them off first.
When she returned, ten minutes had already passed. Vanessa also seemed as if she had just gone through a war. When she came in, the first thing she did was shouting an order, "Alina, make me a cup of pear juice!"
After giving the order, she looked at Willy and asked with some doubt, "How did you have time to come back today?"
If it wasn't a holiday or the weekend, and it was rare to see him come home so early!
"Is there something going on? Are you eating at home or not? I'll get the kitchen to buy some ingredients and make you your favorite soup!"
As soon as Vanessa turned around, Willy stopped her. "There's no need, Mom. I have to go out again later! I was running some errands, so I came to see you on the way!"
Shrugging his shoulders, he helped Vanessa back down onto the couch. "I came in a hurry, so I didn't bring anything!"
"Silly child, you don't need to be so polite in your own home. This house has everything you could need!"
Smiling, Vanessa stretched out her hand and said, "Alina, make a cup of coffee for Master Willy as well, and cut some fruits! Also, get the jerky that I bought!"
Looking at Vanessa, Willy's heart felt like it was being wrung. He kept begging God. The fear he felt right then was nothing like anything he had ever felt. He was afraid that all of it had something to do with her!
Soon, the coffee was served. The two sat for a while, but Willy remained silent.
"Willy, what's wrong? Do you have something on your mind?" That time, he seemed to be a little unhappy and down in the dumps!
Looking up suddenly, Willy came back to his senses and then said, "No, maybe I'm just a little tired!"
The truth was, he was indecisive and didn't know whether to say it or not, or how to say it. He had a moment of impulse and asked casually, "Mom, the two people just now..."
"Oh, them!" Thinking that he had heard the three of them gossiping and got upset, Vanessa even tried to comfort him.
"They're just some rich ladies who have nothing to do, and occasionally ask me to play cards or go to spas together! Women love gossiping. You don't have to take it seriously! It changes every day, and there's nothing serious about it!"
Taking over the cell phone, Willy bowed his head and said casually, "I left in a hurry, so I might have left it at the company. 1385252..."
He lowered his head and pretended to yawn. Willy furrowed his eyebrows and murmured, "Mom, do you remember what the last few digits of Laurie's phone number are?"
Just as he finished speaking, Vanessa gave him a hard poke in the head.
"Who are you asking? How would I know her phone number? You, on the other hand, probably would have it memorized by now! You're so blinded by your emotions, and you must be missing that witch! Tell me the truth, are you serious about her?"
As soon as Vanessa finished speaking, Willy quickly pressed the hang-up button and chuckled.
He did not admit or deny it, but subconsciously, he felt that he could trust Vanessa more then.
She was so angry that her face had turned green. Vanessa had a dissatisfied expression thinking of how Willy just couldn't be better than that.
"What's wrong with you? Are all the women in the world dead, or something? You don't like noble ladies or pretty girls, and instead you like a girl like that. Willy, are you blind? I don't have any prejudice towards poor people or only like the rich ones, and I won't ask you to marry a daughter from a rich family, but at least, she should be a girl with no wrongdoings!"
"You're driving me crazy! She's an ex- convict! I already have to tolerate the fact that you have an illegitimate child with her. At most, it will just be a flaw! However, if you are serious about her, you'll be mocked and made a laughing stock in the future. How do you even maintain your reputation in the social circle?"
She suddenly stood up from the sofa, and Vanessa was so angry that her eyes were bloodshot!
"I knew you were trying to coax me that day! If you didn't like her, you wouldn't so easily bring her home!"
