"We have to go to the city center," said Lillian, interpreting her parents' intentions from their sudden appearance.
Without changing her expression, Lillian raised her glass in congratulations to Selena. "Congratulations," she said calmly.
Selena smiled and accepted the toast with composure.
Hattie looked up at Selena, remembering how she had said goodbye to her before. She knew that Selena had already decided to leave the capital since then. Now it was just a matter of when she would leave.
Hattie didn't show any signs of sadness or attachment on her face; she just stood by Selena's side.
After Lillian finished speaking, she finally got down to business. She leaned back casually and faced the audience with a smile. "I brought three treasures with me on this trip to the capital and I want all of you here in the capital city to help me redeem them."
The young ladies present almost instinctively sat up straight at these words. The incident at the research institute a few days ago had already spread throughout the capital. Miss Lillian was here for Robert, who dared use Sacred Pearl and kill Miss Turner.
All eyes turned instinctively to Selena. She smiled, showing no signs of anger or coldness, even managing to joke a little. "To use the most precious treasures of the central city to redeem a spy... Miss Turner's actions as governor are truly eye-opening."
Lillian paid no attention to Selena's mockery and simply replied, "Miss Turner is serious."
With that, Lillian clapped her hands and Bianca appeared by her side. Shortly after, three people walked in with trays in their hands. Each tray held a box - one red, one white and one black.
The boxes were made of an unknown material that shone brilliantly under the light. The scent emanating from them was also quite alluring.
"It's not about the money, it's that you can't even buy it."
The Turner family was willing to invest in her, but Selena wasn't too keen on letting them drain their resources just for the sake of winning against Lillian over Robert.
The outcome of her match with Lillian had never been about material possessions.
Selena was ready to move on and make other plans when Winnie suddenly stood up. "Miss Lillian's three treasures may be impressive, but when it comes to valuable items, nothing beats those found in the capital."
"I'm no expert myself and would love to see how the treasures from Central City compare to those found in the capital. Who do you think will come out on top?"
