Badboy Ace novel Chapter 25

Ryn pov

I jumped off the counter, heart racing as I pushed Ace away from me. My eyes quickly search for the discarded thong and noticed it beside Ace's feet. I bent down quickly and had just grasped the material in my hands when there was a knock on the door.

I quickly put the thong on nearly tripping in the process. I hissed at Ace to hide while walking towards the door. I found it strange that Nate had decided to knock on the door instead of entering like he usually did. But didn't want to linger on that thought.

I turned back to make sure that Ace had listened to me and when I found the area clear I placed my hands on the doorknob, gulped in some air and opened it.

Nate stood there on the other side looking rigid and underneath those eyes of his held repressed anger. I bit my lips as I waited for him to speak.

"Where is he?" He spat out lowly. My eyes widen and he used my shock state to walk pass me to enter. A red material was in his grasp and before I could get a better look at it he turns around to face me and puts it behind his back.

I cleared my throat. "Where's who?" I tried to feign confusion but nearly cringed at how sickish I had become at telling lies.

His eyes turn to slits of rage. "Don't try to lie to me Ryn and fucking pretend that you don't know who I'm talking about." He throws the red material at my feet. "You forgot this at the restaurant today." He finishes.

I look at the material and my eyes widen when I realized it was the dress I had worn this morning. I had forgotten to take it with me when I was rushing to get away before the cops noticed me. Of course he would've noticed that it was mine. It was his gift to me for my birthday last year.

My mouth opens to speak but he beats me to it. "Someone called the cops today and specifically asked for me. I knew something was up when I arrived there to find dead members of the dragon gang and George. Oh and that's not all, a little birdie with red hair specifically mentioned your name and described Ace perfectly to me. And according to her both of you were fighting off the criminals together."

"Nate I-" I started to say, guilt eating me up inside that I hadn't told him everything. But I stopped midway when I didn't know what to say that would ease the situation.

"Save any excuses you were about to say, I saw you on your motorcycle with Ace leaving the scene, not to mention that you're wearing the waitress outfit that's now ruffled up." He muttered angrily. I gulped. If he had noticed, then probably the rest of the officers did too.

He must've noticed my alarmed expression so he quickly put me at ease. "Don't worry I'm the only one who noticed you leave. I was also the only one that red haired talked to so no one knows you were there."

"Thank you Nate-" I started but he cuts me off.

"Don't thank me just yet Ryn, What the hell is going on?" He shouts loudly.

"Don't talk to her like that." Ace voice grumbles. We turn to look at him. I shot him a warning look to behave but he doesn't look at me just settles his heated eyes on Nate.

Nate's infuriated face turns murderous as he stomps to Ace. Before any of us could act he slams his fist on to Ace's face making him stagger back in shock. I gasped as I run towards them and pushed Nate away from him.

"Nate stop it!" I yelled holding him back from going at Ace again.

Something flashed in his eyes before he conceals it with indifference. He smirks. "Now bellissima don't lie to yourself." He mocked.

"Shut the fuck up asshole." Nate sneered. He turns to look at me and looks at me expectantly. "Why is he with you and what are both of you planning?"

I sighed it was better to tell him now, I trusted Nate and I'll always do. There was no point in hiding anymore he would've found out sooner or later. "We are working together to take down Robert. We were supposed to go to that restaurant today to get information about a shipment but things didn't go as planned."

"When did both of you start this plan?" Nate questioned.

"Two days ago." I said already knowing what he'd say.

"So that's why you were hell bent on making Stark not go after Ace, you were protecting him!" Nate nodded like he had just solved a complicated question.

"I wasn't necessarily protecting him, I was protecting the plan. I don't care what happens to Ace after we take down Robert." I informed Nate. Ace snorts but I refuse to look at him. I was already embarrassed enough that I'd make him touch me in such a way.

Nate turns to look at Ace glaring at him in distrust. "Why all of a sudden are you against your father, aren't you daddy's little mouse?" He asked displeased and on edge. Ace face suddenly turns dark and he sneers at Nate.
