“Yes sir!” The subordinate took the flash drive and turned around to the bathroom.
However, Charles called out, “Wait a minute.”
At the same time he shouted, he raised his glass of water and poured it on the remaining half of the document folder.
The subordinate paused in his tracks and looked to Mr. Zellner, waiting for an order.
“Ignore him,” Mr. Zellner waved his hand casually at the subordinate and turned to Charles and said with a laugh, “Look at how burnt it is, do you think it can still be used?”
With that, he turned to another subordinate. “Get me the walkie-talkie.”
He wanted to personally give the orders to kill Charles, the only man who had ever dared to threaten him!
Charles sneered. “Don’t you want to open it and take a look at what’s inside?”
“What do you mean? Is this not the accounts record?” The grin on Mr. Zellner’s face vanished immediately and the walkie-talkie that was already by his ear lowered down.
Charles leaned back into the sofa with a jeering look on his face.
Mr. Zellner frowned and opened the document folder.
“Don’t even dare to use me as a hostage, my subordinates are the ones holding the evidence as of now and they only listen to my orders. Don’t even think about bribing my subordinates like how you did with Mr. Logan’s wife either.”
“I can guarantee you that even if you search high and low, you won’t find who my men are.”
Before Mr. Zellner could attempt to threaten Charles, Charles had already eliminated all his possible threats.
Mr. Zellner leaned forward slightly, his eyes filled with menace and rage. “Do you think I will act according to your plan just because of this?”
“Of course not,” Charles replied, “There is also the option where both of us can perish together. Simply put, you can kill me and go to jail, but I don’t think you would like that idea very much.”

Mr. Zellner snatched his subordinate’s gun and loaded it before pointing it at Charles. “Do you think you know me so well that you can guess what I’m thinking?” he snarled.
Then, he pressed the black gun muzzle to Charles’ temple and gritted his teeth as he growled out, “I can kill you with one shot right now, then flee the country with my family before Commander Zoe and his bunch of idiots can find any evidence on me!”
The heating in the room was turned on, so the cold gun was a stark contrast to the warm air.
Charles’s palms were getting clammy but he did not even flinch. Instead, he felt a slight tremble from the gun.
Although it was subtle and almost unnoticeable, Charles was so on edge that he noticed it. He let out a small sigh of relief and grabbed the gun, pressing it harder on his forehead.
“Go ahead and shoot me now! Commander Zoe might not have enough evidence to arrest you, but as long as my blood is on your hands, that’s more than enough reason for them to put you under investigation for as long as they want.”
Although his tone was as light as a feather, each word weighed on Mr. Zellner’s chest heavily.
The Department of Justice had already been investigating him for a while now, and the only reason they had not made a move was that they had insufficient evidence. If he killed Charles now, he was practically serving himself to the Department of Justice on a silver platter.
Clank!
A man’s voice sounded from the walkie-talkie on the table. “They’re here.”
Charles’ eyes lit up immediately and he straightened up.
“Have Ms. White come up then,” Mr. Zellner said with a frown.
However, the man stuttered for a long time as he mumbled a string of incoherent words.
Mr. Zellner was already frustrated enough being played with under Charles’ thumb. “What are you talking about? Do you not understand me? Bring Ms. White up this instant!”
Mr. Zellner's heart sank as he cast a quick look at Charles and shouted, “Shut up! Contact the people who have Ms. White right now and order them to bring Ms. White before me within ten minutes!”
As a safety precaution, he had specifically ordered his men to drive ordinary black Volkswagens because he thought that the cars were more inconspicuous looking and they would be able to slip away easily into traffic while kidnapping Sophia.
However, from the looks of it… It seems that the car that had taken Sophia was not arranged by him, so his subordinates must have misunderstood!
Charles narrowed his eyes as the images of the black Volkswagens flashed across his mind. Well, there was this possibility.
Nevertheless, he did not want to simply leave like that before he confirmed it.
