“Good that you’re sensible.” Master Harris snorted and threw the phone to Sophia.
Sophia answered the phone and Victor’s anxious voice sounded from the other end of the phone. “Ms. White?”
“Speaking,” Sophia said, “I wanted to say hi to you when I saw you in the corridor earlier, but your patient’s family dragged you away before I could come any closer.”
Master Harris was glaring at her from a corner, prepared to snatch away her phone the moment she said something that should not be said.
“Yeah, something came up with the patient.” Victor hesitated slightly as he contemplated his words. “Did you call me because… Do you need my help with anything?”
Master Harris’ gaze on Sophia turned colder.
Sophia replied with a soft laugh, “You just gave me a lecture on how I should take care of my body, and yet I’m leaving the hospital right after. I just wanted to give you an explanation because I don’t want to lose a friend like you just because I disobeyed a doctor’s orders.”
The two continued to chat for a while, and once she managed to dispel all of Victor’s doubts, she ended the call.
“I guess you finally grew a brain after dying!” Master Harris took the phone back and opened the car window before throwing it out.
Sophia replied coldly, “Even so, I’m still being toyed around by you, aren’t I?”
If she had known Master Harris would make such a move, she would not have agreed to work together with him.
“Even if you live for another few decades, you would never be as good as me!” How many people in this world were like him?
Sophia ignored him and turned to look out the window.
“You better act sensible and tell Charles who you are so he can go back to the company and investigate the money laundering incident,” Master Harris said with a frown.
Just as if she had not heard him at all, Sophia continued staring out the window.
If Charles set off to investigate the company’s accounts now, he would surely attract the other party’s attention. Then, who knew what they would do!
“The situation isn’t as bad as you think it is. If Charles looks into the money laundering incident now, perhaps he’ll still able to turn the situation around before they can do anything! On the other hand, if he just waits and does nothing, we’re all finished!” Master Harris had always believed that he who struck first gained the advantage. He hated being on the passive side.
Sophia turned around to look at him upon hearing this, her eyes cold and frosty. “You said it yourself, perhaps he’ll be able to turn the situation around before they can do anything! How high a chance do you think this possibility holds?”
Master Harris’s expression darkened. He could not deny the fact that this possibility was in fact extremely small because the opposing party had been incredibly cautious with every step.
“The chances of finding out everything right away is too small! On the contrary, they will know immediately if Charles intervenes and looks into the matter! Do you have any idea what would happen to Charles if they found out?” Sophia snarled in a low tone.
Anyone could easily imagine the consequences by thinking with their toes —— he would be killed!
“He has enjoyed the luxury the Harris family had provided him for so many years. Even if he dies, it’s his duty as a Harris! It’s an honor!” Master Harris had a grim look on his wrinkled face.
Sophia was so furious at his shamelessness her body shook all over. “If it’s such an honor, why don’t you leave it for your favorite grandson? Haven’t you always doted on Justin and your third son? Let them have this honor then!”
These words pierced through Master Harris’ heart like a blade. The people he had loved for so many years turned out to be love children bore by the woman he loved.
He had been trying to forget this ever since he found out, but Sophia constantly brought it up and reminded him about it!
“You… Cough cough…” Master Harris wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. “You useless b*tch!”
With a menacing look on his face, he raised his hand to smack Sophia.
However, just as his hand was about to come into contact with Sophia’s face, all of a sudden——
Either way, she could not let these people take her away!
“Get in!” Someone pushed Sophia’s head as he forced her into the car.
Sophia was hurting all over, and on top of that, she was still a patient so she was quite weak, to begin with. It did not take much of a hassle before her body gave in and she was forced into the car.
Just as half her person was inside the car, Master Harris and his bodyguards hurried over and one of them grabbed onto her right leg that was still dangling outside the car.
Sweat beaded her forehead and seeped into her cracked wounds, which only caused her wounds to ache even more.
Sophia and Master Harris had come in four cars while there were three SUV’s awaiting them. Altogether with seven cars stopped in the middle of the road, cars began honking as they had already blocked off traffic.
With the bodyguards and pedestrians, they managed to surround the group of men, and both parties stood facing each other, both at a loss at what to do at the moment.
While everyone was distracted, Sophia seized the opportunity and crawled out of the crowd. Then, she sneaked into the bushes on the side of the road and carefully watched the situation from afar.
However, there were too many people crowding around so it was impossible to see what was going on.
Sophia crouched on the ground and did not dare to move. Knowing how powerful this bigshot was, they might have people in the police force so it was best if she did not fall into anyone’s hands right now.
