Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 455

However, a small number of them admired Sterling as well. Although he was indeed quite foolish, he was incredibly sentimental and sincere. In short, he was the complete opposite of his father, and they could not help but consider working with him in the future.

Mr. Phillips was stunned for a moment before his face flushed red in rage as he retorted, “Sterling, I suggest you think carefully before saying anything else! If you break off all projects with the Phillips family now, you will face the same losses as us! Do you think your board of directors would agree to this?

Before Sterling could respond, Master Russel came over grinning like a Cheshire cat along with Fredrickson beside him. “Mr. Phillips, you don’t have to worry about this. The Russell family has been looking to expand our businesses in the country. If White Industries gives up the Phillips family, Lenyess Corporation would love to step in and take over.”

If he was younger, he would have thought that Sterling was an impulsive businessman whom he would avoid.

However, along these years as he grew older, after all the things he had experienced and all the people he had encountered, genuine people like Sterling were indeed hard to come by.

The onlookers were envious when they heard this, and at the same time, they sighed to themselves.

Somehow, not only did this lucky dog saved Master Russell once, he was highly appraised by the old man as well.

With Lenyess Corporation there to take over, White Industries would certainly not lose money.

Mr. Phillips was merely threatening Sterling earlier, but he had not expected Master Russell to appear out of nowhere. Although he was shocked and furious, he knew better than to lash out right in front of Master Russell, and so he snorted and left huffily with Sawyer.

However, before the two even took a few steps forward, Master Russell called after them. “Wait a minute.”

“Yes, Master Russell? Do you have any other wise advice?” Mr. Phillips chose to swallow down his grievances, but he was unable to disguise the anger interlaced in his tone when he spoke.

Master Russell chuckled and replied, “It’s not exactly wise advice, but just a friendly reminder to you and your son, Mr. Phillips. Perhaps it’s best to show some respect to the deceased when you attend a funeral in the future.”

As soon as Sophia returned to the hospital, someone immediately came forward to treat her wounds. Even so, her wounds were already infected and she was already running a high fever.

“Fortunately, the infection isn’t too serious so it’s just a mild fever. However, this is the one time we allow this, you will not be permitted to leave the hospital anymore within this month and rest properly in the hospital,” her attending physician said.

Sophia mumbled a vague response in her hoarse voice, but she was still thinking about the funeral.

She saw how badly hurt her brother was after fighting with Sawyer but she had no idea how he was now.

There was Charles too. She wondered if the letter she wrote to him worked… If not, would she be able to just sit around for the entire month while he gave up on himself?

If that happened, everything she was doing now would be meaningless…

Her attending physician set up her IV drip and gave her a few more orders before leaving the room.

The room instantly fell into silence, aside from the occasional whirring noises that came from the machine.

Soon after, Victor opened the door and entered the room.

Before he even said anything, Sophia asked him anxiously, “Dr. Hemingway, I’m sorry to trouble you but can you please give Aunt Hemingway a call and ask what happened at the funeral?”

“I already asked her,” Victor replied, “The White family has broken off all contacts with the Phillips family and all their current ongoing projects will be canceled.”

Sophia bit her lip. In the past when her father turned a blind eye to her being framed just to continue working with the Jones family, she was terribly hurt and sad. However, now that her brother had cut off the Phillips family, she could not help but worry…

Victor immediately noticed the wariness in her eyes and continued, “However, don’t you worry! Master Russell announced in front of everyone at the funeral that the Russell family’s Lenyess Corporation would take over all the ongoing projects. Although I don’t know much about business, I know that the Russell family is superior to the Phillips family, so this should be a good thing.”

Charles was just about to return to Bamboo Virtues, but just as he was about to get into his car, Yvette called out to him. “Charles, come over here for a second, I have something to tell you.”

Charles took a swig from the bottle of whiskey in hand before he walked over.

Charles did not answer as he asked her back, “What’s the matter?”

Perhaps it was because he had been drinking too much or it was the lack of proper rest, his voice was completely hoarse, and when he opened his mouth, his breath reeked of alcohol.

Yvette heaved a heavy sigh and decided not to talk about his drinking anymore. “I want to divorce your father.”

“Oh.” Charles did not give much of a reaction either. They should have gotten divorced long ago.

Many people at their status flaunted their affairs publicly as well, but they never let their mistresses intervene in their family affairs, let alone try to snatch a share from the family’s inheritance.

His father was really just too pathetic.

Seeing that he did not object, Yvette let out a sigh of relief. “The thing is, your father refuses to. Can you come back with me and convince him to sign the divorce papers with me today. I don’t want any of his money or shares, he can have it all.”

“You wasted your youth on him and suffered so much with him, are you sure you won’t want anything?” Charles asked coldly.

Yvette paused for a moment before she gave her son a helpless smile. “It’s already hard enough to get him to agree to this divorce when I don’t even want anything. What makes you think he would agree if I ask for half of his assets?”

All she wanted was to get rid of this man whom she had been with for most of her life.
