Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 442

Seeing this, the younger generation of the Lewis family had no more reason to stay, and most of all, they were too embarrassed to even say a word to Charles, and so they quickly scurried away.

The room instantly fell into silence.

Yvette felt ashamed of herself as well, having dealt with her husband and his mistress in front of her son several times now, she did not want to stay any longer either.

“I couldn’t care less whether you drag the Harris family into this, but please be careful yourself and don’t act rashly, understand?”

Charles continued flipping through his phone for a brief moment before nodding his head.

“Alright then, have a good rest, I’m leaving now.” Yvette rubbed her sore temples as she left the room with a sullen expression.

Not long after she left the room, Charles received a phone call.

“We haven’t been able to find out who the man outside your room is, but he went to see Ms. Sylvia Yates and Mr. Jax Cabot right after he left.”

“Alright, got it, continue investigating then.”

A sharp, cold look flashed across Charles’ eyes as he ended the call. He got up and headed straight to Sylvia and Jax’s room.

Although the two of them were severely injured, they were lost in a passionate kiss, and when he got to the room, it seemed as if things were escalating quickly too.

The two jumped up in shock when they noticed his arrival. Jax was so shocked he almost pushed Sylvia to the ground.

“What are you doing here?!” Sylvia sat up and tidied her clothes. “I’m warning you, don’t you dare try anything or I’ll call the guards in!”

Charles said nothing but stared at the two of them coldly as he closed the door behind him and slowly walked toward them.

“What are you trying to do!” Although Sylvia’s tone was arrogant and overbearing, her screech did nothing to hide the panic in her voice. She stood barefoot on the ground as she nervously raised a glass toward him.

Clink!

Charles snatched the glass from her and smashed it to the floor.

Sylvia’s heart leaped when she heard the sound of glass shattering and turned paled as she backed away instinctively.

“Char-Charles, she’s y-y-your grandmother, do-don’t do anything stupid…” Jax was bandaged all over to the point he could not even stand up, so he could only try to shout as he lay helpless on the bed.

Charles’ eyes were cold as ice as he kept his gaze on Sylvia and ignored Jax. He picked up a broken glass shard from the floor and lurched forward, marking an ‘x’ on each side of Sylvia’s cheek.

She cherished her beauty most, did she not?

He would ruin her face then!

It would not take long for him to destroy everything she cared about either!

Blood streamed down Sylvia’s face as her face twisted in pain. However, what pained her more was the fact that a cut this deep might never be able to heal…

“Are you crazy? Do you think I won’t expose the news of Harris Corporation being involved in human experiments right now? I would really like to see what you would become if you lose the Harris family!”

Charles used to be worried that this day would come. If the day came where he did not have the Harris family to fall back on, how was he going to protect Sophia and their child, knowing how many enemies he had?

However, he was all alone now, so what was there to be afraid of?

“Go ahead.” He stared at her coolly and threw the blood-stained glass shard to the ground.

Sylvia had not expected him to not care at all, and she was instantly speechless. Her face paled even more as she wrecked her brain, not knowing what to say.

“Aside from threatening me with the human experiments and Sophia, what more can you do? Hmm?” Charles grabbed her by her shirt collar and sneered.

He no longer cared about anything in this world, so how could she possibly threaten him?

“Sylvia, Charles has become a madman now, I think you should ask your men to stand down for now. As for the other side, you should…”

Sylvia was already in a foul mood now that her face had been cut open, but after listening to his wimpy and cowardly words, the raging anger in her burst into flames. “Stop talking! If you don’t have the guts, you don’t have to stay by my side anymore and we can end things right here right now!”

“Sylvia, I’m just....” Jax’s face flushed red, but before he could explain himself, she had already left the room, slamming the door behind her.

-

Her entire body hurt as if a colony of ants was building a nest on her body, eating away at her flesh and blood. On another hand, the pain also reminded her of ice and fire colliding, the kind of pain where her body felt as if it was being torn apart as it melted away.

She felt slightly dizzy in the head, and at the same time, it was as if she was floating in the air.

There was something stuck in her throat that made her nauseous, but she could not bring herself to spit it out. Her eyelids were heavy but she could not open them, and she could only hear a ticking sound.

What were these sounds?

Was it a bomb?

Was she going to be blown up again?

No way! She must survive so she could take her revenge and spend the rest of her life with Charles!

Sophia wanted to move but she could not even move a single finger. An overwhelming sense of fear and pain washed over her as she mustered all her strength to open her eyes.

The light pierced her eyes, and even a simple act of opening her eyes pained her.

Her vision slowly cleared up from the initial blurriness and Victor suddenly appeared before her.

Sophia moved her lips but something her throat felt hoarse and painfully dry as she tried to speak, “Dr. Hemingway, I…”
