Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 405

“Alright, that’s all I can tell you for now. Once I’m done, I’ll tell you all about it when I visit you at your grave. Goodbye now!”

Sylvia put on her surgical mask and turned toward the door, but as she was walking, she suddenly stopped.

“Jacinda, stay here for a little longer. Let everyone outside come in when he’s almost at his last breath. We were husband and wife once so I won’t go too far.”

Aunt Jacinda nodded, then only did Sylvia leave the room.

The Harris family immediately swarmed over at the sight of the nurses and doctors.

“How is Grandfather?”

“You must let us in as soon as possible if he can’t make it! What if he can’t see us before he goes? Are you doctors willing to take this responsibility?”

“Can we go in now?”

The doctors and nurses were swarmed by them. “Things do not look good right now, please prepare yourselves for the worst. However, the doctors are still trying their best to give him more time so he can sort out all his affairs. Please wait for another moment and we’ll let you in soon.”

With that, they turned to leave.

Sophia stared at one of the nurses and she could not help but think that the nurse stood out weirdly among everyone else. Aside from that, the nurse looked quite familiar too.

However, she could not think of who it could possibly be no matter how hard she tried.

“What’s wrong?” Seeing her staring, Charles walked to her.

Sophia shook her head. “Nothing.”

“Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap?” Charles held her hands in his and tried to warm them up.

He thought it was time to get her a doctor to see to her health, seeing how her hands and feet were always so cold.

Sophia leaned into his arms and wrapped her arms around him. “I’m not tired, I still have to see Grandfather along with you too.”

Since everyone was already accusing her of trying to steal a piece of Master Harris’s pie, she might as well accept it and see it through.

She could not possibly be labeled as a gold-digger for nothing!

Charles immediately saw through her thoughts and tapped her nose, his eyes filled with adoration as he stared at her. “You conniving little girl.”

“I’m your conniving little girl.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

Worried that she was cold, Charles removed his coat and draped it over her shoulders. His body warmth lingered on the coat and soon enough, she felt warmed up.

Soon later, Aunt Jacinda came out of the room, her eyes completely red and swollen. “You should go in, Master Harris can’t… can’t hold on anymore.”

As soon as the words came out, everyone immediately rushed into the room.

“Grandpa, you can’t die!”

“You are the backbone of the family, how are we supposed to live on if you’re dead?”

Those who were flustered and discussing what to do with Master Harris’ inheritance mere moments ago were suddenly crying and wailing like the loving children and grandchildren they were.

Although the hospital room was quite spacious, it could not accommodate so many people, and so Sophia decided not to go in and Charles stayed outside to accompany her.

Not long after, Ted rushed out of the room and strode toward Charles. “Hey, why aren’t you inside? Is it because you already knew that Grandfather doesn’t have much time anymore? Huh?”

Sophia could not bear seeing Charles being talked to like this. She frowned and said, “He didn’t go in because he wanted to stay outside here with me.”

“Why should I get up? Did you not hear what I said? Everything your grandfather left for all of us has been secretly stolen by Charles!” Ted felt as if he was talking to a bunch of idiots. Why did nobody listen to him?

The mere thought of Charles slipping away with so many valuable things hurt him so bad he felt as if his heart was being torn apart!

Right then, Master Harris breathed his last breath. The Harris family members slowly exited the room and coincidentally overheard Ted’s words, and they turned their gaze to Charles as thoughts ran through their minds.

“He’s too noisy.” The Harris family had crumbled the instant Master Harris passed away. Not wanting anyone to cause any more trouble, Charles ordered the bodyguards to take Ted away.

Two bodyguards grabbed Ted by the arm on each side and led him away as he struggled in their grasp while hurling a string of curses.

“Are all of you blind? Charles Harris just killed someone!”

“Let me down or I’ll f*cking kill you, do you hear me?”

“Charles, Sophia, I’m warning you if these idiots don’t put me down this instant, I’m going to lose it!”

Still, everyone ignored him. Even his children who feared Charles remained quiet and pretended as if they could not see anything.

“Wait a minute!” Justin could not hold back anymore and he wanted to preserve whatever dignity their family still had, and so he finally stood up. “Charles, no matter what, Dad is still your elder. It’s not very nice of you to drag him out like that, right?”

Everyone else seemed to be busying themselves with something but in reality, they were not-so-discreetly watching what was happening before them to see Charles’ reaction.

Charles looked at Justin with a cool look and replied, “Do you have something to say?”

“I just think that it’s not very nice of you to treat my father like this right after Grandfather had just passed away. If word gets out, your reputation might be tainted,” Justin said softly.

“Got it,” Charles replied vaguely and turned to the bodyguards. “Stuff his mouth and throw him out.”

The bodyguards gave Charles a nod of acknowledgment, and one of them immediately took off his suit jacket to stuff it in Ted’s mouth before continuing to drag him away.
