"You still have that rotten life of yours!" Master Harris growled.
Charles took a step forward, moving closer to him. "Do you have the heart to do it, Grandpa?"
Master Harris's expression changed unpredictably. The cloudy expression on his face just got darker and darker.
"You didn't have the heart to do it back then because you thought you could easily control me, because you didn’t have the heart to kill such a great money-making tool like me." Charles said, "Now that you can finally do it, there are aunts and Mr. Fredrickson holding you back, so you can't just disregard this rotten life of mine, right?"
Master Harris reached out and slapped him across his face.
It was a really fierce slap as Sophia saw a huge part of Charles’ face swell up in no time. There was a distinct slap mark on it as well as a scar from his nail.
She took a step forward, but after noticing the look that Charles gave her with his eyes, she clenched her fists and stepped back again.
There was, however... an uncomfortable feeling in her heart.
"Who taught you to talk to me like that?" Master Harris raged. "Get down on your knees!"
Charles dropped his eyes, concealing the look in his eyes, and knelt down before Master Harris before he went berserk.
"Who asked you to arrange an internet planner to publicize Leah's affairs?" Master Harris snapped. "Master Jones went to the hospital today to tell me about this. I couldn’t even look at him after that!"
After yelling at Charles, he then turned to look at Sophia, his gaze as sharp as a blade.
Sophia's body was taut; her palms sweating a little.
If it were not for Master Harris’ stage four cancer, not even ten versions of her and Charles would be enough to deal with an old man like him. Nevertheless, he did not have much time left, hence they needed only to press on until they got through this period of time…
"Why are you ashamed, Grandpa?" Charles said, "The Jones are the ones in the wrong this time, they should be the ones who are ashamed."
Master Harris kicked Charles on his chest and shouted, "B*stard!"
His kick sent Charles falling to the ground. One side of his face was pale while the other side was red and swollen, making his good-looking face look inexplicably strange.
"Are you okay?" Sophia walked over with a frown and helped him up, her heart racing much faster than usual, not knowing if it was due to anger or some other reasons.
Charles shook his head at her and said that he was fine.
"If you have a conflict with Leah, can't you just resolve it in private? Must you take it to the media and spread the news all over town?" Master Harris was flushed with anger. "Who knows how much Jones Group’s stock prices will continue to fall after a negative news like that is released!"
"Master Jones came over and told me himself that he would like to cancel part of the partnership with Harris Corporation. Do you know how great of an impact this will have on Harris Corporation?!"
Charles knelt on the ground with his back straight in neither obsequious nor supercilious manner. For the third time today, he repeated, "I am neither the president of Harris Corporation nor do I hold any Harris Corporation shares. What do I have anything to do with what happened to Harris Corporation?"
"Are you trying to use Harris Corporation to strike back because you’re dissatisfied with me?" Master Harris raised his eyebrows. He was breathing heavily and in a towering rage.
Charles replied mildly, "I wouldn’t dare."
"You wouldn’t dare? Is there anything out there that you aren’t daring enough to do?" Master Harris sneered. "Charles, you better not infuriate me or I will send Sophia to prison this instant and make sure that she never comes out!"
Sophia frowned. She loathed the feeling of being a burden. She opened her mouth to say something, only to find that it was all useless—
Regardless of whether he was telling the truth or not, there was no denying that he was now in an even more difficult position in the Harris family because of her.
"Get up." Master Harris contemplated carefully for a while before saying to Charles who was still kneeling on the ground.
Sophia stepped forward and helped Charles up. She then frowned and went to the kitchen. After a while, she walked out with a frozen duck wrapped in a towel and stuffed it into Charles' hand.
"...I don’t need it." Charles refused, looking at the duck’s head with its eyes still wide open.
Sophia pursed her lips and put the duck-wrapped towel on his swollen face, then took his hand and asked him to hold it himself.
Unsure whether she was doing it on purpose or not, the frozen duck's head was facing Master Harris, looking as though it would come back to life and pounce at him to peck him.
Master Harris felt uncomfortable under the stare of the dead duck and shifted aside whilst furrowing his brows. Even so, he was seated on the couch in front of Sophia and Charles. No matter where he shifted to, the dead duck was still staring at him.
"Ken, throw the dead duck away!" Master Harris said irritably.
Baldy stepped forward, took the dead duck from Charles, and walked towards the door.
"I admit that the Jones have gone too far lately. No matter what, Sophia is pregnant with the Harris family’s child. How dare they ride roughshod over us repeatedly!" Master Harris harrumphed heavily. "I will take care of this. You don’t have to worry about it anymore."
Charles answered with a yes.
"And you!" Master Harris glared at Sophia. "Don't run around when you are pregnant, especially the Lewis family’s daughter. What are you going to do if she pushes you and cause you to miscarry?”
He was referring to Madam Jones when he said the Lewis family’s daughter.
