Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 261

“You seem very excited after hearing that your leg can fully recover, more so than winning your court case,” Victor said tentatively.

“Perhaps the world isn’t as fair as we think it is, but it’s not completely unfair either. Don’t close yourself up just because you bumped into one or two unkind people, it’s not worth it.”

Sophia licked her dry lips and paused before a smile spread across her face. “I understand what you’re trying to say, Dr. Hemingway. Thank you.”

“Well, the wise words were brought to you by Ms. Lucy Hemingway’s Chicken Soup For The Soul. If you want to thank her, you can thank her yourself in a bit,” Victor said with a chuckle.

The two knocked on the door once again, and this time, entered the house successfully.

“We’re glad to have you over, you shouldn’t have brought anything!” Madam Hemingway quickly accepted the gifts and put it aside. Then, she turned to Victor and nagged him. “You stupid man! How can you let a young lady like Soph carry all these things? You’re doomed to be single for the rest of your life if you continue behaving like this!”

Aunt Lucy, on the other hand, wore a disgusted expression. “Go go go! I cut up some fruits earlier, go bring them out! Get some tea too, that’s the only thing you can do anyway. Hurry up and make Soph a cup of tea!”

“Yes, my lady!” Victor made a wanfu curtsey before heading into the kitchen.

Aunt Lucy rushed over to Sophia’s side and asked anxiously, “It’s great that you won the lawsuit but isn’t there something odd about the jury’s sentence? Leah framed you and you got injured and two years in prison, and she’s getting off with just a two-million compensation fine for mental distress? So the case is finished just like that?”

“Well, it’s not exactly finished, but it’s not exactly not finished,” Sophia replied.

“Don’t you play word games with me, young lady! Be clear with me!” Aunt Lucy said exasperatedly, “Are you planning to do something now that you know she had planted evidence on you and blamed you for everything?”

Right then, Victor came back into the room with two plates of fruits and gently placed them on the table. “There you go, fruits.”

“I haven’t really thought of what to do but you don’t have to worry about me, I can deal with this myself.” Sophia was reluctant to share anything more.

Aunt Lucy did not want to press on the matter in front of Victor either.

The four of them sat down at the table. Although Sophia was a quiet girl, the other three constantly livened up the atmosphere so the meal went on quite pleasantly.

Once they were finished eating, Aunt Lucy suddenly thought of something and said with a deep sigh, “When I was a helper at White Family a long time ago, Soph and Ster were always so lively all the time. I used to get so annoyed at times but now…”

“Well, we’re all bound to grow up someday.” Madam Hemingway interrupted Aunt Lucy’s train of thought to avoid bringing down the mood. “Besides, one is bound to have a slip of the tongue if he talks too much. Anyway, Soph is Mr. Harris’s girlfriend now and she’s always dealing with the sly foxes in that family. It’s a good thing she doesn’t talk much.”

Victor nodded in agreement. “That’s right, it’s good to have a steady mind and think about things more instead of just babbling away.”

“Alright, that’s it! That’s enough worrying things to talk about! Soph, do you have anything to do later? If not, why don’t you stay here a little longer and join us for dinner?” Aunt Lucy suggested.

Sophia gave her a small smile and replied, “I’ll come by again soon, I still have something to do this afternoon.”

Then, they continued chatting for a while before Madam Hemingway got up.

“You’re the hospital dean, you still have a lot of work to do in the afternoon so don’t worry about this,” Aunt Lucy said, “Let Vic go, he’s free this afternoon.”

Victor immediately stood up and grabbed his car keys from the table.

Sophia was no longer the dumb girl she was two years ago and she completely understood Madam Hemingway’s standpoint. “Thank you for the reminder, I’ll think about it carefully.”

Then, she laughed bitterly to herself. “However, this whole matter with Charles is really too much for me and my heart just feels empty now. Let’s not talk about falling back in love with Charles and having a baby with him first, the word ‘love’ is enough to give me goosebumps now. I don’t think I’ll be able to talk about relationships in the next couple of years, at least.”

“Well, once bitten, twice shy. I completely understand how you feel, but you’re still young. You’re only twenty years old now, don’t be so pessimistic, okay?” Madam Hemingway said with a heavy sigh.

Sophia nodded in response.

Perhaps Madam Hemingway felt slightly sorry toward Sophia, she added, “Don’t think that Master Harris takes things lightly because he’s always so grumpy. To be honest, he only became so irritable recently. Maybe he just realized that time is running out and he wants to take care of everything as soon as possible.”

“Thank you for reminding me, Madam Hemingway, I’ll keep an eye out.” With that, Sophia bid farewell to Madam Hemingway and walked toward the residence gate with a heavy heart.

She agreed with many things Madam Hemingway had said. Master Harris was certainly not someone easy to deceive. Whether she was faking her pregnancy or legitimately pregnant through IVF, he could easily discover the truth anytime.

However, she could not bring herself to sleep with Charles just to have his baby.

A baby was not an object to be used against people. Besides, judging from her current relationship with Charles, the child might never get a chance to grow up in a loving home.

She could not be so irresponsible toward a child.

When Sophia reached the community gate, she had yet come to a decision so she decided to think about something else. She opened Weibo and searched for a few of the top big V’s on the platform.
