Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 257

Barely half an hour later, Leah and Sophia’s trial results were all over the news.

“Secret Plots Between The Wealthy Besties.”

“A fiend in human form: An Unexpected Twist to The Car Accident Involving Leah Jones and Sophia White.”

“Sophia White Revealed To Be Innocent: Uncovering The Truth About The Rich’s Car Accident.”

Netizens all across the internet were shocked at the jaw-dropping turnaround.

“D*mn, even TV dramas don’t do it like this, right? Leah was eighteen years old two years ago and fifteen years old five years ago, can you imagine how conniving this girl is? It’s terrifying!”

“I was so scared I just told my girlfriends to be merciful with me! They can have all the men they want whoever they are, I just want my life! (fear.jpg)”

“How awkward… I was just calling Sophia a dirty mistress when the news came on earlier. I was so angry I wasn’t able to sleep the entire night but turns out Leah’s the mistress! I just want to apologize to Sophia…”

“The people living one floor above me were so angry they couldn’t sleep the entire night, it’s hilarious! Really though, there are too many people doing stupid things for love. To be fair, Leah did come up with a believable cover story, and in addition to all the misdirecting news, all of us couldn’t help but turn against Sophia. We shouldn’t be blamed for having a low IQ, it’s just that we don’t know the specifics because we aren’t directly involved in this incident!”

“Leah, you b*tch, how can you plot against your best friend! You deserve to die!”

“Two million is merely money for another convertible to Sophia, how can they exchange that for the mental distress she suffered in prison for two whole years! Oh, that poor girl!”

Just as the news continued to spread, Sophia and her parents had arrived at a quiet bubble tea shop. Before this, she had asked Charles to leave first.

She did not want anyone to interfere with the disputes within her family.

Her brother had wanted to come over but she wanted to talk to her parents properly. She was worried that he would intervene and interrupt their talk, and so she had her sister-in-law bring him away.

“Soph, I really didn’t… didn’t expect Leah to do something so… so crazy…” The moment Jenny began talking, the tears came rolling down her cheeks once again. “It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have… lost faith in you…”

Sophia pulled out a piece of tissue paper and handed it to Jenny. “Here, wipe your tears away,” she said with a deep sigh.

“Soph, I…” Jenny accepted the tissue and brought it up to wipe away the tears in her eyes. The tissue paper was soon completely soaked. “You must have… You must have been upset that I didn’t believe you before this, you… Can you give me another chance… please… Please…”

Towards the end, Jenny was sobbing so hard her words were incoherent.

Sophia took out a few more pieces of tissues and passed it to her mother. She felt helpless and her heart ached with pain. Although she was overwhelmed with the mixed emotions in her head, her decision never changed.

Call her harsh or ruthless but after the way her parents treated her when the car accident happened, she was never going back to the White Family ever again.

“Soph, please give your mother a chance. Nobody is perfect in this world and we’re bound to make mistakes. Your mother was pregnant with you for ten months and she raised you to be the young lady that you are today, you can’t dismiss her just because of a small matter like this, right?” James said.

Sophia sneered sarcastically.

“What do you mean… a small matter?” Jenny bunched up the tissue paper and threw it into the waste bin under the table before standing up. She slammed the table and cried out, “Mr. White, I blame myself for being stupid enough to believe the games those people were playing, but how could you let her be treated unjustly when you knew about it?”

She turned around and pointed to the sun outside the window. “If I ask you to convince me that the sun rises from the west, you can say it to my face without even blinking, right?”

“Sophia White!” James could no longer hold in the anger and growled loudly.

Jenny glared at him through her weepy eyes. “What are you shouting for! You purposely played along as Soph was falsely accused of a crime she didn’t commit and you didn’t tell me the truth, and now you… Do you think you have the right to lecture her? James White, are you ashamed of yourself?”

“I’m trying to talk to Sophia here but look at her attitude!” James’s expression was dark as he continued, “Both of you mother and daughter are getting more and more unreasonable!”

Jenny had always been obedient and sensible before this, but now Sophia had influenced her to become a crazy shrew!

“I’m unreasonable?” Jenny pointed at herself incredulously as she screeched, her voice so high it almost broke. “James White, can you put your hand over your heart and ask your conscience if you have the right to say that to me?”

James was slowly losing his temper as well, his entire face all the way to his neck turning a bright shade of red. “I don’t have the right? Jenny Fisher, ever since the moment I married you, have I done anything that wasn’t out of consideration for both of us as husband and wife?”

“Ever since I took over Jones Group and we had Sophia and Sterling, have I done anything that wasn’t for the sake of Jones Group and this family? Sophia made a mistake and I had to do my part and protect the company as well as our family, so was I wrong to kick her out of the Jones Family?”

“Everything I do is for this family, yet each of you still point your fingers at me and blame me for everything! If it wasn’t for me, how would you have been able to live a life of luxury and wealth all these years?”

“If it wasn’t for my decision and I hadn’t kicked Sophia out of the Jones Family, would Jones Group be able to achieve the success the group has today? No, it’s impossible! Maybe the company wouldn’t go bankrupt, but it wouldn’t do so well either with Charles putting pressure on us!!!”

James finally vented out all the anger and frustrations accumulated in his chest. Then, he took his cup of milk tea and downed half of it.
