Sophia did not stay long. She left after the meal and prepared to purchase a phone. It was inconvenient to do anything without a phone.
There were still people pointing fingers at her along the way. She wondered if there could be other reasons that none of them dared to let her overhear their gossip.
Tat.
Tat.
Tat.
The sound of a man’s footsteps followed consistently behind her.
Sophia initially wanted to ignore him, but he had followed her all the way to the front of the phone shop. She turned back with a cold expression. “Mr. Jones, is it fun following me for this long?”
“Are you the only one allowed to take this route? Who says I can’t use this route?” William stared at her with his fists clenched.
Sophia smirked and turned to walk into the phone shop while he followed behind her and entered as well.
“I’d like this model, please. Thank you,” Sophia simply picked a phone model and headed to the counter to make the payment. William was still following behind her, but she seemed indifferent to his actions.
There was a traffic police standing at the cross-section. Sophia gripped her phone tightly as a look of nervousness appeared on her calm features.
She semi-jogged all the way toward the traffic police and pointed at William who was following close behind her. She said, “That man is my admirer. I refused to accept him and now he’s following me everywhere! I think he must be mentally disturbed!”
“Don’t be afraid. Where do you stay? Let me see you home,” the traffic police replied.
Sophia’s eyes were red with anxiousness. “It’s okay, I don’t need to trouble you that far, but can you help me stop him as long as you can? I should be okay once I get rid of him!”
“Sure. Please be careful. Call 110 immediately for the police if you realize something is wrong,” the traffic police instructed.
Sophia nodded vigorously and apologized a few more times before crossing the road via the crosswalk. She turned back to glance at William and saw that the traffic police had already stopped him. They were talking about something.
“Sophia, Sophia!” William shouted when he saw that she was about to leave. He wanted to run toward her, but the traffic police stopped him.
Sophia turned her gaze away and left without looking back. She followed the people on the streets and found a sales kiosk. She proceeded to purchase a SIM card there.
While conducting the necessary procedures for the SIM card, the salesperson looked at her strangely. It was as if he did not like her, but he did not dare to express it.
It did not bother Sophia as she took the SIM card from him and put it into her phone.
Beep.
Beep.
Next, two headlines were sent to her phone.
#Leah Jones of Jones Group Charging Sophia White of White Industries For Attempted Murder#
#Numerous Netizens Revealed To Have Been Threatened And Intimidated By Sophia White and Charles Harris#
No wonder no one dared to be rude to her face. They were afraid of being threatened and intimidated… Sophia chuckled as she stood up and walked out of the sales kiosk.
The moment she was outside, her phone rang. It was a call from William. Her lips twitched as she immediately blocked the number.
However, William sent her a message using another number very quickly.
[Why did you tell the police I was a pervert?]
Not long after, he sent another message.
As a granddaughter, she had never been as popular with her grandparents in the village as her brother was, but they had never shouted at her this way as if she was a dog!
“She’s my woman. I’ll feel hurt on her behalf,” Charles replied matter-of-factly.
Bam!
Master Harris gave him a hard kick on the back.
Sophia was stunned as she watched Charles fall face-first to the ground.
There was broken glass everywhere. She heard the squishing sound of glass piercing through flesh and witnessed fresh blood spilling from his body. It quickly spread all over the floor. It was a horrifying scene to watch.
The look of Charles lying in a pool of blood reflected in Sophia’s eyes as her lips trembled slightly. It felt like all the strength within her was pulled from her body in an instant. Her knees went weak as she nearly fell to the ground.
Charles was Master Harris’ biological grandson. How could he be so vicious?!
Master Harris looked at him with an upset expression. There was no other emotion on his face besides rage. “Unrepentant! Look at you being a mess over a woman. You’ll only end up destroying the Harris family if I allow you to inherit it!”
“Grandpa, you’ve never once thought about allowing me to inherit the Harris family. Why would you even ask me to match up to the requirements of being heir to the Harris family? She’s my woman, and I’m more than willing to protect her.” Charles tried to push himself up with both hands on the ground, but he had just managed to stand up a little when he fell weakly to the ground.
Sophia licked her dry lips as she walked up to Charles with weak limbs. Her face was ghastly pale as she tried to help him up. Her eyelashes fluttered like the wings of a butterfly, rapidly but without control.
“Never mind me, go upstairs.” Charles lifted his head. Blood was trickling down from the wound on his forehead. His hands and legs were covered in fresh blood because of the broken glass pierced into him.
However, his expression did not betray his physical condition. He looked calm as if he could not feel any of the pain.
Sophia could not explain it. Her mouth tasted a little bitter and something seemed to be stuck in her throat, rendering her speechless.
Master Harris kicked Charles again. “Shut up! Say anything more and I’ll send Sophia to prison right now! Even if she is pregnant, she can give birth to my great-grandson in there!”
