“The host stood in front of the bride and groom, laughing and teasing, “How did the bride meet the groom? Can you tell us about it?”
Tiffany indicated to the host to pass her the microphone. Under the excited gaze of the guests, she pointed towards the direction of Sophia and spoke with her chin tilted up.
“B*tch, so what if you’re with Mr. Harris now? Who knows when he’ll get bored of you after a few days? I’m married to a rich family. I want to see if you dare to lay another finger on me in the future!”
Boom!
The room exploded with this declaration and the scene of the wedding was in a ruckus. Some people were looking at the stage while some were looking at Sophia.
However, as Charles Harris was right beside Sophia, while the notorious Sterling White was also there, no one dared to look at them too blatantly. They were afraid of offending Charles and also wary that the protective brother, Sterling, would bash people up with chairs. After all, that had happened before.
Someone from the Lewis family got on the stage and tried to persuade Tiffany to get down. She refused, and a few people forcibly dragged her away.
Master Lewis was afraid that his newly-wedded wife might get hurt, so he hurried after them.
“Because Miss Tiffany is unwell, she will take a rest for the time being. I hope all of you will understand.” Leah was carried up to the stage by William, a forced smile plastered on her face. “First of all, thank you very much for attending my grandfather’s wedding…”
She had just started her speech when she was interrupted by a commotion from the audience.
“This… why are they showing this?”
“Isn’t the woman in the video the bride? Why is she in bed with Mr. Philips?”
“Marrying such a woman, Master Lewis must be old and confused!”
“Master Lewis seems to be an upright gentleman. I never expect that he’s into this. Tsk, tsk!”
“Marrying a woman in her twenties and a hostess at that. Master Lewis has interesting tastes!”
“How did Master Lewis get to know such a woman? Did he pay for her services even though he’s already in his eighties?”
Apart from the faces of Tiffany and Sawyer, other areas had been pixelated, but even so, the actions of the people could clearly be seen.
The entire hall was filled with the sounds of a woman’s seductive moans and a man’s breathless groans. Occasionally, there were also sounds of bodies slapping against each other and water effects.
Leah twisted her head for a glance. The picture on the screen was too sordid for words. When she watched it, Tiffany was laying under a man with another woman… the absurd and scorching scene made it impossible to take a second glance.
With a change of expression, she trembled and said to William who was brimming with fury, “Will, unplug the power supply quickly.”
Sophia sat down and watched calmly as the Joneses and Lewises were caught in the mess. When Leah looked over at her direction, she even smiled back at her.
William was about to rush at her when he was stopped by Leah.
Even if William came over, she was unafraid. This matter was arranged by Charles’ men; she had nothing to do with it.
“Are you happy?” Charles turned to look at her, a touch of tenderness hidden in his dark eyes.
Sophia lowered her eyes before looking up at him again. “I’d be even happier to see you in trouble.”
Seeing the clear disgust and resentment in her eyes, Charles’ heart seemed to be stabbed by something. He hesitated to speak, turned his head and avoided her gaze.
Brr… brr… brrr…
Nevertheless, it was a big family after all. The video was switched off very quickly. The performers went on the stage and the food was served. Everything went on smoothly as if the ridiculous incident did not happen at all.
Sophia was not interested in the performance but scanned the hall randomly instead. After a while, she saw a few people approaching a waiter and forcibly dragged him away.
“Was that the person you arranged?” Sophia asked.
Charles followed her gaze and hummed his acknowledgment.
“If he was caught, would they link it back to you later?” Sophia frowned.
Charles squeezed her chin and turned her face to him. He looked into her eyes and raised his eyebrows, seemingly in a good mood. “Worried about me?”
“I’m just afraid of getting involved.” Sophia pushed his hand away and started eating the fish.
Seeing that she had eaten the fish, Charles selected a cut from the belly of the fish, picked the fish free of bones before putting it into her plate.
He said, “That person is Tiffany’s fiancé from the village. He won’t sell me out.”
“Whether he’ll sell you out or not, that had nothing to do with me. Besides, I don’t like to eat fish paste.” Sophia glanced at the fish on her plate and looked away again, eating a bamboo shoot instead.
Charles glanced at the plate of fish that was almost intact except for the bones that were picked out. He extended his chopsticks into her plate and picked up a piece of fish.
“What are you doing?” Sophia frowned as she asked.
Charles chewed slowly before swallowing the fish in his mouth. He ignored the ugly expression on her face and picked it from her plate again. “I don’t like to waste food.”
