Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 188

James followed behind her and walked over, finally looking at Sophia without a cold look on his face for once. "You probably know your mistakes by now. You can’t stay outside all the time either. Listen to your mother and go home."

"Know my mistakes?" Sarcasm was written all over Sophia's face. "Why did I do wrong? Why am I clueless?"

Her words choked James so terribly that his complexion changed immediately.

Marie leaned against the car and looked at the family with great interest.

"Soph, we can consider you young and impulsive back then when you hit someone with a car, but why do you still refuse to admit your mistakes even until now?" Jenny said exasperatedly.

James harrumphed coldly. "Giving birth to a daughter like you is simply the greatest humiliation of my life!"

"Hah!" Sophia sneered. She did not count on her parents anymore and was not in the mood to say anything either. Hence, she turned around and got into the car.

At the sight of this, tears welled up in Jenny’s eyes. She walked over to tap on the car window. "Alright, Soph. I won't bring up the past if you don't want to talk about it. Just don’t do awful things like that again next time!"

Seeing that Sophia had gotten into the car without a word, James was so furious that his expression changed unpredictably. However, he did not say anything.

Amidst the constant tapping of the car window, Sophia rolled down the window, ignored the tearful Jenny, and asked Marie indifferently, "Are we leaving now?"

"Let’s go," Marie replied with a smile, put out the cigarette she had just lit, and climbed into the driver’s seat.

Jenny was so anxious that tears flowed down incessantly. "Soph, I will... I will stop saying that you hit… Leah with a car, just... Just come home with me!"

She and Soph were really close. Soph would even tell her how she pursued Charles. How did things turn out this way?

"Please step aside, Madam White." Sophia looked at Jenny the way one would look at a stranger.

Jenny shook her head whilst choking with sobs, holding onto the window edge firmly.

James walked to the side of the window and started criticizing Sophia with a frown. "She’s your mother. You did something wrong but she can’t even say a word about it? I have never seen such an insensible daughter like you!”

"I did something wrong?" Sophia’s face was filled with contempt. "Don’t you feel guilty when you say those words, Mr. White?"

There were flickers in James’ eyes. He was momentarily stumped for words.

"Can’t you just hold your tongue?" Jenny screamed at him with tearful eyes. "If it weren’t for your constant admonishing, she wouldn’t have grown so distant from me!"

Sophia turned away from the arguing couple and rolled up the window whilst keeping a straight face.

At the sight of this, Jenny reached out and held the window in an attempt to persuade her to go home.

Even so, Sophia remained completely unmoved and continued to roll up the window. Jenny had no choice but to pull her hands away with tearful eyes.

"Ms. Marie, can we go now?" Sophia asked.

Marie raised the corner of her eyes slightly, then motioned at the couple standing outside the car with her chin. She asked tenderly, "You have nothing else to say?"

"There’s nothing left to say," Sophia answered with downcast eyes as she clutched her clothes firmly.

Marie took in her small movements and let out a ‘tsk’ sound before revving up the engine. As she was worried that she would hurt the two standing next to the car, the car started off at crawling speed.

"Your mother is chasing after us," Marie glanced at the rearview mirror, turned to Sophia, and said.

Sophia turned her head back to take a glance. Her mother was chasing after the car in high heels. Perhaps it was because she was running too fast, so she staggered for a moment and fell to the ground.

Bamboo Virtues Village was a famous spot where the powerful and influential figures in City B gathered. Apart from the high housing prices, the monthly property management fee was also, to many people, an astronomical amount.

Many respectable figures in this city lived here. Those who were drifting on the fringes of the upper class society had racked their brains just to make their way here, hoping for an opportunity to get to know more people who could benefit them in the future.

The security level and environmental planning in Bamboo Virtues Village were certainly worthy of its exorbitant housing prices and property management fees.

Marie drove all the way to the penultimate row of villas before making a few turns and pulling over in front of a two-storey villa.

"This must be it, right?" Marie asked, raising her eyebrows.

Sophia hummed a response and got out of the car.

"I guess I won’t be going out." Marie rolled down the car window and flashed Sophia a dazzling smile. "Megan’s boyfriend came to the club to raise a ruckus. I still have to go back to deal with it."

Sophia pursed her lips. After pausing for a moment, she replied and walked toward the villa. After two steps, she turned back and asked Marie, "Ms. Marie, you said that you were late because someone was raising a ruckus. Was that person Megan's boyfriend?"

"Yes, Ben Raymond, a drinking water company’s boss." Marie had seemingly expected her to turn back and ask as she did not start her car engine at all.

Sophia frowned. "Can you tell me why he’s raising a ruckus at the club, Ms. Marie?”

"This is a little complicated. It’s hard to put it into words. However, if this matter can’t be solved, then Ben will post Megan’s sex tapes on the Internet." Marie stretched her body and squinted her eyes at Sophia like a cat.

Sophia lowered her eyes and said no more.

"Is there anything else? I’m leaving now." Marie revved up the car engine. Her alluring face formed a sharp contrast with the domineering Land Rover, creating a different kind of charm.

"... Yes." Sophia paused before saying, "Can you take me there with you, Ms. Marie?"
