Having said that, Sophia turned around and was about to go outside when Charles called out to her. "Forget it."
After a pause, he asked, "Is it so difficult for you to feed me soup?"
"It's not difficult. I just don't want to." Sophia glanced at him expressionlessly and sat back on the bed. She continued to sip on the soup.
Charles took in the look of indifference and disgust in her eyes. His eyes darkened slightly. There was a tinge of bitterness in his mouth.
It took almost half an hour for Megan to come back. She explained, "I ate something bad and had a stomach ache, that’s why I spent a bit more time in the toilet."
She then gathered her courage and stayed on for a while more before leaving after making an excuse.
Not long after Megan left, Sophia received a message from her.
Megan: [Sophia, are you going to attend Master Lewis and Tiffany’s wedding?]
At the thought of the promise she made to Clara, Sophia replied with a yes.
Megan replied with two more messages in no time.
Megan: [Tiffany almost killed you. Don’t you think it’s unfair now she’s about to marry into a rich family and live a good life in the future?]
Megan: [I have some good stuff about Tiffany here. I will send it to you later. You will probably be interested.]
Sophia looked at her texts and tugged at her lips sarcastically.
Charles was lying on the escort bed next to her, so he could clearly observe the changes in her expression. His gaze darkened a little while his throat tightened slightly.
She was different now… They were the ones who had pressed her to the wall!
Sophia did not reply but tossed her phone aside instead. Soon, her phone vibrated a few times. Megan had sent her a few short clips.
She frowned and looked at the still image in the short clip. She wanted to reply to Megan initially but accidentally clicked on one of the short clips.
"Ah… Mm… Don't stop… Faster, Mr. Cullen… Faster..."
The sound of flesh hitting against flesh accompanied by a woman's coquettish and moaning sounds echoed in the ward. Sophia's pupils contracted and her heart thumped. She exited the short clip instantaneously.
The ward was quiet again. It was as if nothing had happened.
Sophia had no idea what she was thinking about, but she subconsciously glanced at Charles who was lying on the bed next to her and met his eyes. His eyes were deep and serene. It was difficult to describe the way he gazed at her.
"Someone secretly took a video of Tiffany making love," Sophia frowned and said.
Charles hummed faintly.
Sophia looked at him, wondering if he believed her words. She pursed her lips and withdrew her gaze with a sullen look on her face.
Megan: [These should probably be useful enough for you.]
Megan sent another message.
There was a flash in Sophia’s eyes. It looked like disappointment, sarcasm, and self-deprecation. She sneered and replied to Megan.
Sophia: [Are you jealous because you stayed true and did so many things for Ben, but he left you for other women whereas a woman like Tiffany is pregnant with Master Lewis' child and is about to marry into a rich family?]
Tiffany held a grudge against her and would get married very soon. Now, Megan was sending her these short clips after confirming that she would go to the wedding. Her intentions were more than clear.
Beep.
Megan: [You’re always so straightforward sometimes that I don't even know how to respond.]
This was equivalent to acquiescence.
Sophia knew his methods of torture better than anyone else. If Tiffany fell into his hands, then it would be a living hell for her.
However, she said, "No, I will handle my affairs myself."
She got up with a grim look on her face and sauntered out of the ward, bumping into Victor who was hurrying over. She did not look at where she was going. He was rushing as well. Hence, the two nearly crashed into each other. Fortunately, he stopped in time.
"I have been so busy that I just only found the time to visit you, Ms. White. I'm so sorry," Victor said.
Sophia tugged at the corners of her lips. "You’re too polite, Dr. Hemingway."
The two were not close to start with, but she knew Aunt Lucy, and Aunt Lucy happened to be Dr. Hemingway's aunt.
Victor raised his wrist to look at the time and said with a smile, "Half-past six. I'm off work now. Why don't you change your clothes and come home with me, Ms. White?"
"Alright, please give me a minute, Dr. Hemingway." Sophia only just recalled that the two had agreed to have dinner at Hemingway’s residence together.
Victor nodded. Sophia went back to the ward, grabbed her clothes, and was about to enter the bathroom to change her clothes.
"You’re going to Dr. Hemingway’s place for dinner?" The door was not fully closed just now, so Charles had overheard their conversation. He furrowed his eyebrows but quickly smoothed them out again.
Sophia ignored him, went into the bathroom with her change of clothes in her arms, closed the door, and locked it with a click.
Charles looked at the tightly-shut bathroom door and pursed his lips. A layer of overcast clouds covered his face. He tried to move his arms, but he was only human. Under the effects of anesthesia, he could not even twitch a single muscle.
He tilted his head slightly and saw Victor's figure along the crack of the door. There was an inexplicably stuffy sensation in his chest area.
The bathroom door opened again in no time. Sophia had changed into a long dress with a beige-colored coat. Her hair was tied up, making her look so much more refreshed.
"Cancel it. I'll go with you some other day," Charles said with a frown.
