Chapter 168 Torture

After we finished, Gideon told her we needed a day to decide, but she could not stop nodding. She said she wants thei forward to hearing from us soon. 

After she left, Gideon looked at me.

I made a face. 

“I don’t know, Gideon. Is it just me who thinks that somehow she wasn’t honest?” 

He sindled 

“She said she really wants a job. Maybe she just acted a bit too much, just to make us like her.”

“And do you like her?” 

“Alice.” He sighed. “She will clean and cook only. She will not come her to keep us entertained, therefore I do not even think about that. I only care about her cleaning and cooking skills.*

I looked up at him, and he looked back at me with a frown. 

“You said you didn’t like them.” 

“True” I rolled my eyes. 

“Okay, I will let you think about it. I am not rushing you.” 

I smiled while he kissed my forehead. I knew he would accept my decision even if I would say I do not want her in the house, so I thought I will give myself time to think. 

The next day, I went for my training. Gideon texted me when he woke up 

I stayed up longer than I should last night. I sat on his lap while we watched a movie, and somehow we both were in need, so none of us could reject the idea of a quick sex. It seemed to be a bad idea as I felt so tired in the morning. I found my training harder than usual. 

Beth was angry with me, of course. She assumed I was up late last night. I tried to make it sound better by telling her I just could not fall asleep, but it did not help it. Her anger towards me did not fade away 

I loved skating, but this time I was so happy when I could finally leave the ice rink. While I sat on the bench in the changing room to change my shoes, my thoughts were en Gareth. I only hoped he would have mercy on me when he saw me. 

“Alice, here.” 

I looked up. It was Beth, and she had a box of some kind of tea in her hand.. 

“What is this?” I asked with a frown 

“It’s a mix of herbal teas. It is all natural. You can drink a cup of it if you can not sleep next time, but you can take nothing else.” 

Chapter 168 Torture 

“Thank you, Beth.” 

I thought she would leave, but I looked up at her again when I realized she was still standing there. 

She sighed. 

“Alice, I told you a million times. This is your time, and this is your future. Do not ruin your hard work just before the finish line. A whole coach is with you. They trust you, and working a lot to make you end as the best. Don’t make us disappointed.” 

I swallowed and nodded. I hated that side of her. Even if I knew I was the one who worked the hardest, when she had a speech like this, I always felt bad. And I knew she did it on purpose. Despite that, that made me feel selfish. 

My mood was completely ruined by her that day. I sat in my car for a few minutes before I left. What I really wanted to do was just go home, get into bed and spend the whole day like that covered up, shut the hard world out for a little while. 

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to calm myself down. I turned the engine on and I drove to the gym. 

Gareth looked at me weirdly. After we greeted each other, I went to the changing room to get ready, and when I appeared, I saw him awaiting me. 

“Alice, are you okay?” 

“I’m just tired, because I didn’t have a good sleep last night.” I told him, even though I assumed Beth had made him aware of that already. “Beth called me, and she wasn’t happy at all” 

“I know.” 

“Okay. Get the skipping rope, Alice. Your legs could use some training. I want you to jump higher, and maybe your quads could have a bigger distance between takeoff and landing.” 

His words were like a cold shower. I was tired enough, but I knew I will be exhausted at the end of the training. Somehow, what he said also angered me. There was no problem with my quads‘ distances, and I jumped five quads last time. How the hell could I do that if I could not jump high enough? 

I tried to calm myself down. The pressure on me was hard to take already, and I knew it would only become worse soon. I counted till three inside my head, and I followed him. 

The training was a torture for my legs. I was sweating, and it seemed like it was a proper punishment, or they just wanted to make sure I would sleep that night. I do not know. 

After the training finished, it was hard to stand even under the shower. The only reason I 

not cry was my pride. 

I walked to my car, then I sat in. I just stared ahead for a while. Even driving back home seemed to be hard. I took a deep breath and exhaled before I turned the engine on. I drove back home. 

My hair was still wet when I walked inside the house. I found Gideon in the kitchen. He looked at me and frowned.
