NOAH
“Mate,” I whisper as her soft, beautiful eyes look into mine.
“Mate.” She whisper back and blushes.
We do not say anything more for several minutes. We stand there and look at each other. I lift my hand slowly, catching a strand of her hair, and put it behind her ear. Her body is shivering when my fingers touch her cheek and sparks run through my fingers, and I know she felt it too.
“You are my mate.” She whisper nervously.
“Yes, you are my second chance,” I tell her softly, and she nods her head.
“Madeline, I understand that you have just been through a lot, and I will not rush you. But I beg you, don’t walk away, not right this moment.” I tell her, panicking a little, and she looks at me surprised.
“My king, I won’t walk away. I am just surprised. You are THE king, and that is a little intimidating. But this is the moon goddess's choice, and I trust her judgment. But I am worried if I can live up to the responsibility.” She says, looking into my eyes.
I gently put my hands on her face to make sure she doesn’t look away.
“Even I get worried about the responsibility I have on my shoulders, but I have my Beta, my family, and now I gave you. And you will have me and my family.” I promise her and she smile.
Her face is still in my hands, and I can’t resist anymore, so I bend my head down to her and give her a small, soft kiss on the lips. She did not push me away. My inner happiness screams when she lets me kiss her.
I rest my forehead on hers and we just stand there for a few seconds. But I know we have to get outside and get her and her family back to the camp, to those packmembers who survived.
“We better go,” I whisper to her, and she nods her head, agreeing with me.
“Yes, they are waiting. She whispers back, and I raise my head and stand up straight.
I take her hand in mine, and she smiles at me, before we walk out of the cottage together for everyone to see.
Dad is waiting outside with Alpha Louis and Madeleine’s older brother. I don’t see Enzo and Madeline look around as we walk over to them and look at her dad.
“My king, Alpha. Your mate and your other daughter are placed in the tent with your son Beau. Your son was very brave. We tried saving as many of your pack members as possible. And we have about five hundred survivors. Mainly women and children who made it to safety, but about sixty were pack warriors. I am sorry to inform you that everyone else above that did not survive.” Uncle Matt says, and sorrow hits Alpha Loui's face.
“Thank you, I know the men you had here already, and my own warriors will have done everything they could. So thank you.” Alpha Louis says sadly.
“Right now, I want my family checked and taken care of. When I know they are, I would like to walk into my pack land,” Louis says.
“Louis, our warriors are right now removing dead rouges from the other dead so that your packmembers can get a proper goodbye,” Dad tells him, and Louis nods.
“Place my packmembers all of them in the packhouse. When it’s done I will set fire to the house, and they go away with the heart of our pack.” Alpha Louis says shocking us all.
“Are you sure?” Dad ask.
“Yes, our pack is gone. And I will not force the surviving ones to go back to be living in a place where we got hurt so badly.” Alpha Louis says, and no-one questions him again.
