ENZO

As we sit eating, I notice Rose keeping an eye on me, and I know she can sense that something is bothering me. And I know Logan is right; it’s better to tell her, or she will just keep wondering what is happening.

When we are all done eating, Logan looks at me and nods his head, telling me it will be okay.

“I need to say something, or more like tell you something,” I say, and everyone looks at me.

“What’s wrong,” Rose asks me.

“First, let me just say none of it is true, none of it, I promise,” I say, and she nods her head.

“Alpha Carlos from Italy, the middle territory, have found out who I am. And he now claims, when I years ago were there. That I mated with his daughter while she was in heat, and that she got pregnant. I swear I was not with her or anyone at that time, and I never have been with anyone in heat. Not before you were.” I say and the last part is obviously to Rose. But she doesn’t say anything because she is shocked.

“What are we doing about it?” Noah ask.

“I have asked help from an Alpha in France. I never talked to him before, but he has the reputation of being a fair, strong, and trustworthy Alpha. Another Alpha I know recommended him. His doctor will do the tests and give us all the results. When we have the results, we hope and try to once and for all make him leave us alone,” Logan says.

“What if he doesn’t? what are we going to do if he begins trying to attack, he may try to attack the other two Alphas.” Olivia says.

“I know, and if he does, we go help them,” Logan says, and Olivia nods her head in agreement.

“Rose?” I say, looking at her.

“How does he even know that you are here? We never met him when I was there. And the only wolves of his we met never saw you properly.” She says.

“I don’t know,” I say.

“Someone who knew must have told him.” She says.

“Maybe we will find out,” I say, and she nods her head.

Not long after, we left to go home,, and when we returned, Rose sat down looking at her phone for a long time. But then she pressed and made a phone call.

ROSE

I was furious inside, not at Enzo. I could feel how much this pained him and that he told me the truth. No, I was furious because I had a feeling telling me that I knew who did this.

“Thank you, I will tell my dad,” I say, and we say goodnight.

I notice

Enzo is looking at me, and I go to sit in his arms.

“Michael, say Mia has been in Carlos's territory the last month. After telling me she recognized you because you look like your dad, I think we know who started this, and I am so sorry.” I whisper and look away.

“It is not your fault, baby. You didn’t tell her to do this. And we will be okay, I promise.” He tells me as he makes me look at him.

“If I hadn’t looked for her.” I start.

“If you had not looked for her, we would not have met. So don’t see this as your fault. Meeting you is the best thing that has happened to me. And I wouldn’t change it ever.” He tells me.

We lay down, and he held me close as he fell asleep. I lay here for a long time thinking about everything. Hating that my pathetic biological mother would go so far just to make my life a mess. The sad part is it has probably nothing to do with me, but because she hates dad. And she knows that this won’t just hurt me, but him.

Sometimes I wish my life was different, I hate I am the cause of worry, more worry, and a lot of pain. But as Enzo just said. All this is what, in the end led us together, and it is the best thing happening, ever. And now we are having our first child. So I promise myself I will never be anything like my mother. I will love our child and protect her or him, always, just like mom was with me even though I wasn’t her biological daughter.

I lay here for a long time until I fell asleep in Enzo’s arms.
