ROSE

Enzo is an Alpha by birth! And not just any Alpha, no, the same Alpha that helped my dad. I can’t imagine what it must feel like, but I know I will use the rest of my life to make sure he is happy. I was happy to know, but I was a little mad at the way Dad made him tell everyone. But I would take that with Dad tomorrow. Tonight, I just wanted to be with my family.

When it was late, the guests left, and we all went to our rooms. When Enzo and I got into my room, he put his arms around me and put his nose in my hair.

“I love your scent. It makes me feel calm and where I belong,” he whispered into my hair.

“Good, because it’s how it is, and always will be,” I whisper back. He gets quiet for a short while but then turns me so he can see my face.

“I am sorry that I didn’t tell you about my real parents,” he said seriously.

“No, don’t do that, don’t be sorry. I understand it is something you hold close, and you are probably used to the fact that if the wrong person found out, you could have been hunted down.” I tell him as I caress his face.

“But I should have trusted you with this a lot earlier. But I am so used to not being that person. I don’t want to be seen as an Alpha.” He admits.

“I don’t blame you for not telling me, and I respect that you feel this way. How you choose to live is your choice; we’ll be ours now. But you know what I mean.” I tell him, and he smiles.

“You are amazing, and I am proud to have you as my mate.” He says, and I laugh.

“You better be,” I say and he laughs with me.

I had heard Noah being called the true king, and I am not sure what is meant by that. But I am sure I will find out with time. What baffled me more was the talk of shifting into two forms. But I had heard that the king and queen had but been given each one of the oldest souls, a Lycan soul. I also heard that Logan was born into it, which means that his ancestors go hundreds of years back.

All this just makes me want to show that I can be of service to the throne, whether as a warrior, trainer, or something else. I will do whatever I can to prove myself worthy of being mated to their princess.

I must say that when Logan said he would test me, it shocked me a little. But it’s also exciting that I get a chance to fight with the king, well against him, really. I am looking forward to it, and so is Rocky. We both think it will be fun.

He has kept telling me he likes it here, that it feels like he is meant to be here, that he has some sort of purpose here, so he is happy and, like me, excited. He looks forward to getting a chance to explore the forest and the mountains, and so do I. But I want to do it with Rose after she has done her shift; I think that would be a good way to do it.

I lay here for a long time, thinking about all this while I had Rose in my arms. But eventually, I lay down properly, pulling her close into my arms, and fell asleep with her right there, feeling better than I have done for years.
