Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 95

(Audrey’s POV)

The silence on the phone stretched as I waited for George Thompson to confirm what Elder William had told us about Katherine’s involvement in Arthur’s mother’s death.

“George?” I prompted anxiously. “Please, tell Arthur what you heard that day.”

“I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re referring to, Luna,” George said formally. “Elder William never made such accusations in my presence.”

My heart dropped. This couldn’t be happening. George had been there when Elder William revealed the truth.

“George, what are you talking about?” I asked shakily. “You were there when Elder William told us about Katherine pushing Arthur’s mother down the stairs.”

“I’m sorry, Luna. You must be misremembering. Elder William never said such things to me.”

Victoria stepped forward with a triumphant smile. “You tried to bribe George into lying about my mother, didn’t you? How despicable!”

Katherine placed a trembling hand over her heart. “Arthur, I can’t believe she would go to such lengths to hurt our family.”

Arthur took the phone from my hand. “I’ll speak to George privately.”

He stepped outside, leaving me alone with Katherine and Victoria.

“You won’t get away with this,” I told them, my wolf bristling.

Victoria laughed coldly. “We already have. Did you really think Arthur would believe you over us? Over his family?”

Arthur returned, his face thunderous. His Alpha presence flooded the room, heavy and oppressive.

“George says he has no knowledge of any such confession from my grandfather,” Arthur stated sharply. “He says Elder William never accused Katherine of anything.”

“He’s lying,” I insisted desperately. “I don’t know why, but he’s lying. Arthur, I swear to you-“

“Enough!” Arthur’s Alpha command made the walls vibrate. “I want an explanation, Audrey. Now.”

“The explanation is simple. Someone got to George. Maybe they threatened him, or paid him off. But I know what Elder William told us.”

Katherine rose from her bed with surprising agility.

“Look at her, Arthur,” she said with false concern. “So desperate to maintain her position that she’d fabricate these horrible lies.”

“I’m not lying!” I protested, my voice breaking.

“Then why would George deny everything?” Arthur demanded, stepping closer.

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But I know what I heard.”

Victoria stood beside her mother. “She’s jealous. She knows your wolf rejected me as a mate, but she’s afraid you might change your mind after the severance.”

“That’s absurd,” I snapped. “I want nothing more than to be free of this mate bond.”

“So you invented these accusations to punish me before you leave?” Arthur asked coldly.

His accusation hurt deeply. After everything, he still believed I was capable of such malice.

“You know me better than that,” I whispered.

“I thought I did,” he replied icily.

Katherine suddenly gasped, clutching her chest dramatically. She collapsed to the floor as monitors began beeping frantically.

“Mother!” Victoria cried. “This is too much stress for her heart! She’s having a relapse because of her!”

The pack healers rushed in. “Alpha, she needs immediate treatment and absolute calm. Her condition is critical.”

Arthur turned to me, his eyes hard as stone. “Get out.”

“Arthur-“

“I said get out!” he roared, his Alpha command rattling the windows.

I searched his face for any sign of the wolf who had once claimed to care for me. I found nothing but cold fury.

Without a word, I left. In the hallway, I tore the scent analysis report into pieces, letting the fragments fall to the floor.

The betrayal cut deeper than expected. Arthur would rather believe I was a manipulative liar than consider that his stepmother might be guilty.

At my territory house, I found George Thompson waiting on my porch. He rose when he saw me, looking anxious.

“Luna,” he began apologetically.

“Don’t,” I interrupted. “Don’t call me that when you just betrayed me.”

I pushed past him, but he placed a gentle hand on my arm.
