Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 93

(Audrey’s POV)

“Arthur, you can’t seriously be considering sending Victoria away,” Katherine said, her voice soft but carrying a calculated undertone I’d learned to recognize. “After everything our family has been through together.”

Victoria’s lower lip trembled on cue. “Mother, they want to send me to the Confederate wolf colonies. The Eastern Badlands! You know what happens to unmated females there.”

I crossed my arms, unmoved by their performance. “The decision has already been made. Victoria deliberately caused my accident which resulted in the death of my unborn pups. There must be consequences.”

Katherine’s eyes widened in practiced innocence. “Surely there’s been some misunderstanding. Victoria would never intentionally harm anyone, especially not an unborn pup.”

Arthur shifted uncomfortably beside me. I could feel his resolve wavering even before he spoke.

“Audrey is my marked mate, not an outsider,” Arthur declared, though his voice lacked the conviction it had held yesterday. “Her word carries weight in this matter.”

Victoria stepped forward, tears glistening perfectly in her eyes. “But your mate bond is being severed next month! She’ll no longer have any claim to pack authority. Why should I be punished based on her accusations when she’s leaving anyway?”

I clenched my fists, fighting the urge to slap her manipulative face again. The audacity of her playing the victim after everything she’d done made my wolf howl with rage inside me.

“The exile will proceed as planned,” I stated firmly, looking directly at Arthur. “As we agreed yesterday.”

Katherine reached for her daughter’s hand, squeezing it dramatically. “Arthur, please reconsider. Victoria is all I have left in this world. Sending her away to such dangerous territories would devastate me, especially in my weakened condition.”

I watched Arthur’s face carefully, noting the exact moment his expression shifted from determination to uncertainty. My heart sank.

“Perhaps we should discuss this again,” he said, avoiding my gaze. “Now that Katherine has awakened-“

“This is what you promised me yesterday,” I cut in, unable to keep the bitterness from my voice. “After I was kidnapped because of her lies. After you took a silver wound protecting me.”

Arthur placed his hand on my arm, attempting to guide me away from the bed. “Audrey, let’s discuss this privately.”

I pulled away from his touch. “No. We’ll discuss it right here, where everyone can hear. You promised me justice yesterday. Was that just another lie?”

Katherine’s face crumpled in a perfect display of maternal distress. “Why must there be such hostility? We’re all family here.”

“Family?” I laughed, the sound harsh even to my own ears. “Your daughter tried to kill me multiple times. She deliberately pushed me into traffic knowing I was pregnant.”

“I didn’t know!” Victoria protested, though her denial rang hollow.

Katherine sat up straighter in her bed, assuming the role of reasonable mediator. “Why should Victoria be exiled like a rogue wolf? Surely we can find a more appropriate resolution within the pack.”

The last of my patience snapped. “She killed my pups!” I shouted, my voice cracking with emotion. “She deserves far worse than exile!”

Victoria flinched, taking a step back. “I’ve already told you it was an accident! I lost my baby too!”

I turned to Arthur, searching his face for any sign that he remembered his promise to me. “What’s your decision, Arthur? Will you honor your word, or will you let them manipulate you again?”

Before Arthur could answer, Katherine let out a dramatic gasp, clutching at her chest. Her body convulsed slightly as she slumped against the pillows.

“Mother!” Victoria cried out, rushing to her side.

Arthur’s face paled. “She’s relapsing. The healers warned this might happen if she experienced too much stress.”

He rushed to the door, calling for the pack healers. Before leaving, he turned to me, his expression a mixture of anger and accusation. “We’re not sending her!” he declared, his tone making it clear he blamed me for Katherine’s sudden deterioration.

The door closed behind him, leaving me alone with Katherine and Victoria. To my shock, Katherine immediately straightened up, her breathing returning to normal as she adjusted her position on the bed.
