Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 75

(Audrey’s POV)

I sat motionless in the room, the stark white walls closing in as I watched Arthur pace like a caged beast before me. His face was pale, his lips trembling as if he couldn’t decide whether to speak or scream. The weight of my words hung heavy in the air like a blade ready to drop.

“So, Arthur,” I began, my voice colder than I had ever known it to be, “you want to know what truly killed our pup? Fine. Let me enlighten you.”

Arthur froze in place. His hands clenched into tight fists at his sides, the muscles in his arms taut with barely restrained tension. For a moment, his dark eyes gleamed with something-was it hope? Or denial? I couldn’t bring myself to care.

“When I found out I was pregnant,” I said, my voice now trembling with restrained emotion, “it was five weeks before our third marking anniversary.”

I looked down, gripping my hands tightly to stop them from shaking.

“I… I wanted to tell you in a way that would be memorable, for both of us,” I continued, forcing the words out as tears pricked my eyes. “I planned a dinner at the territory house. I hid the pregnancy test in the dessert. Silly, I know, but I wanted it to be special.”

Arthur’s brows knitted together. His steps faltered. “And… and why didn’t you?”

I raised my green eyes to meet his, and the bitterness in my expression made him flinch. “Because you didn’t show up.”

“I-“

“No!” I slammed my hands on the desk between us, standing abruptly, my voice trembling with rage. “You didn’t show up to our anniversary dinner! Do you know where you were, Arthur? Do you?”

Arthur swallowed hard and ran a hand through his dark hair. He couldn’t speak.

“You were celebrating Victoria’s mate bond severance,” I spat, my tone cutting like daggers. “You gave her a diamond necklace, the same one I’d admired in the jeweler’s shop.”

He stumbled back slightly, as if I had physically struck him. “Audrey… I… I didn’t know-“

“No, you didn’t know!” I shouted, my voice breaking. “Because while you were busy fawning over her and ignoring me, I was sitting at home… waiting. And when you didn’t come, I had to cancel everything.”

Arthur’s wolf presence surged briefly before receding, like waves crashing against rocks and retreating in defeat.

“You missed every medical appointment after that too,” I said, my bitterness reaching new depths. “Every single one. You missed when I heard our pup’s heartbeat for the first time. You missed the ultrasound. I faced it all alone.”

His eyes darted to me, wide with disbelief and grief. He opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off with a sharp wave of my hand.

“And then,” I continued, my voice soft now, almost a whisper, “when that accident happened… when Victoria dragged me into the street…”

Arthur visibly twitched at the mention of Victoria, his hands gripping the desk as if he needed it to remain upright.

“It was over for our pup,” I said flatly, my heart feeling like it was cracking open again as the words spilled out. “Arthur, do you understand what I’m saying? Your choice-” My voice broke as I tried to steady myself. “Your choice to go to her side, your choice to leave me there bleeding, killed them.”

His breath hitched audibly.

“It was you and Victoria…” I said, every word cutting deeper into the air between us. “You both killed my pup.”

(Arthur’s POV)

Each of her words pierced me like a dagger. My breath felt thin, like I was suffocating in my own emotions.

“No… Audrey, I…” I could barely form coherent sentences.

Her tear-filled green eyes looked straight through me as if I had already been judged and found guilty.

“I didn’t know,” I choked out, stumbling over my words as my chest felt like it would collapse. “If I had known, I would have protected you. I would’ve-“

Audrey’s bitter laugh sliced through my excuse like a knife.

“Don’t,” she snapped. “Don’t you dare say you would’ve done anything, Arthur. Because the truth is, you didn’t. You chose her. Again. And again.”

The words hit me like a freight train, sending shockwaves through my wolf. Logan snarled furiously in my head, thrashing at the walls I’d built to cage him. He hated me in that moment as much as I hated myself.
