Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 112

(Audrey’s POV)

“Beg me?” Florian’s whisper sent a chill down my spine.

I had no time to respond before he swiftly draped his leather jacket over my head and shoulders, pulling me against his chest and away from the rock garden. The musky scent of his cologne enveloped me as I struggled to free myself from his grip.

“Let go!” I hissed, but he only tightened his hold.

“Quiet,” he murmured, his breath warm against my ear. “Unless you want Arthur to find you eavesdropping on his private conversation.”

I stopped struggling immediately. He had a point.

Heavy footsteps approached from behind the rocks. I could sense Arthur’s powerful Alpha presence even before I heard his voice.

“Stormhowl,” Arthur said coldly. “What are you doing lurking around here?”

Florian’s chest rumbled with a lazy chuckle. “Just enjoying some fresh air with pleasant company.”

I froze as I felt Arthur’s gaze sweep over us. Even with my face hidden by Florian’s jacket, I felt exposed.

“Your… companion seems shy,” Arthur remarked, his voice laced with suspicion.

My heart hammered against my ribs. If Arthur recognized me, this situation would escalate dramatically. I kept perfectly still, hoping Florian’s jacket would conceal my identity.

“Not everyone enjoys your confrontational approach to socializing, Moonstone,” Florian replied smoothly.

There was a moment of silence, and I could practically feel the tension crackling between the two powerful Alphas. Then Arthur’s voice came again, sharper this time.

“Those shoes.”

My blood ran cold. I glanced down at my feet, which were still visible beneath Florian’s jacket. I was wearing emerald green heels-identical to ones Arthur had given me for our second anniversary.

“What about them?” Florian asked, feigning ignorance.

“They look exactly like a pair I gave my mate,” Arthur said, his voice dangerously quiet.

Florian let out an exaggerated sigh. “Really, Moonstone? You think your mate is the only she-wolf in the territories who owns green heels? Perhaps if you paid more attention to your mate’s belongings, you wouldn’t be so confused.”

I bit my lip to suppress a gasp. Florian was playing with fire, taunting Arthur like this.

“You’re treading on dangerous ground, Stormhowl,” Arthur warned.

“Am I?” Florian retorted. “Seems to me you’re the one on shaky terrain. A mate who’s desperate to sever your bond, Emma Shadowcrest clawing at your door, and now you’re accusing random wolves of being your mate in disguise. Perhaps you should focus on finalizing that mate bond severance quickly. It would spare everyone a lot of trouble.”

I felt my wolf cowering inside me as Arthur’s Alpha presence intensified, heavy and suffocating. The air around us felt charged with hostility.

“My mate is none of your concern,” Arthur growled.

“Nor is she yours anymore, from what I hear,” Florian countered. “Keeping her bound to you when she clearly wants freedom-it’s rather pathetic, don’t you think?”

I heard Nathan’s voice join the conversation. “Arthur, Emma’s father is looking for you inside. Something about territory negotiations.”

The tension seemed to shift. I could sense Arthur’s attention turning to this new complication.

“We’re not finished, Stormhowl,” Arthur said finally. “And whoever you’re hiding under that jacket-I suggest they choose their company more carefully in the future.”

His footsteps retreated, followed by Nathan’s slower pace. Only when I could no longer sense their presence did Florian remove his jacket from my head.

I gasped for fresh air, my face flushed with a mixture of fear and anger. “Are you insane?” I demanded. “You nearly got us both killed!”

Florian looked entirely unperturbed, his golden eyes dancing with amusement. “Hardly. Arthur may be Alpha King, but even he knows better than to start a physical confrontation at a public venue.”

I stepped away from him, straightening my dress. “You deliberately exposed us! You knew they would hear you!”

“Of course I did,” he admitted without a hint of remorse. “It was getting boring listening to those two posture like teenage wolves.”
