Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 109

(Audrey’s POV)

I stood in the Pack Council Office, staring at Victoria and Katherine’s smug expressions. The mother-daughter duo approached me with the confidence of wolves who believed they’d already won. Victoria’s blonde hair was perfectly styled, not a strand out of place, while Katherine maintained her usual poised demeanor despite having supposedly just awakened from a years-long coma.

“So, it’s finally done,” Victoria said, her lips curving into a triumphant smile. “Good riddance to bad rubbish, as they say.”

Katherine placed a manicured hand on her daughter’s arm, her expression a practiced mask of sympathy that didn’t reach her eyes. “Victoria, be kind. This must be difficult for Audrey, losing her status as Luna.”

Grace, my wolf, bristled beneath my skin. I fought back a laugh at their misplaced confidence. They clearly assumed Arthur and I had completed the mate bond severance.

“Actually,” I replied, maintaining a calm demeanor despite my inner turmoil, “Arthur and I are still very much mated.”

Victoria’s smile faltered, replaced by confusion and then anger. “What? That’s impossible. Arthur made special arrangements for today.”

“Perhaps he had another change of heart,” I suggested, enjoying the flash of uncertainty that crossed her face. “He seems to do that a lot lately.”

Victoria’s eyes flashed dangerously. “You’re lying.” Her voice dropped to a hiss. “What did you do? What kind of manipulation did you use on him this time?”

I shrugged, feigning indifference. “Nothing at all. Maybe you should ask him yourself.”

Victoria took a threatening step toward me, her perfectly manicured nails lengthening slightly into partial wolf claws. “You little-“

“Victoria,” Katherine interjected sharply, placing a restraining hand on her daughter’s shoulder. She turned to me, her eyes cold and calculating. “What exactly happened with the severance, Audrey? I think we deserve a straight answer.”

“Why don’t you ask the official?” I gestured toward the Beta who had been overseeing our severance proceedings. He stood awkwardly by his desk, clearly uncomfortable at being drawn into our confrontation.

Katherine’s spine straightened as she adopted her most imperious tone. “I am Richard Moonstone’s mate and Arthur’s stepmother. I demand to know what transpired here.”

The Pack Official cleared his throat nervously. “The severance proceedings were initiated but not completed, Luna Katherine. Alpha King Moonstone departed due to… unforeseen circumstances.”

Victoria’s face contorted with rage. “You!” She lunged at me, her wolf claws fully extended now. “What did you do?”

I anticipated her attack, having dealt with her aggression before. With practiced ease, I sidestepped and delivered a sharp slap across her face, sending her stumbling backward.

“Touch me again, and you’ll regret it,” I warned, my own wolf rising close to the surface. “You’re the true rogue wolf here, Victoria.”

I pulled a scented cloth from my purse and deliberately wiped my hand, making a show of my disgust. “I need to clean off the filth from touching you.”

Victoria’s eyes widened in shock. This wasn’t the submissive Audrey she was accustomed to bullying. Katherine rushed to her daughter’s side, checking her face where my handprint was already forming.

“How dare you,” Katherine hissed. “After everything our family has done for you-“

“Done for me?” I laughed incredulously. “You mean like Victoria causing my miscarriage? Or perhaps you’re referring to the constant manipulation and gaslighting?”

I moved toward the door, intent on leaving this toxic situation behind. “I have nothing more to say to either of you.”

Katherine blocked my path, her expression hardened into one of maternal protection. “Victoria may have made mistakes, but she’s still pack. You’ve always been an outsider, an interloper who married into our family through Arthur’s misguided compassion.”

I tilted my head, studying her carefully. “Is that what you tell yourself? That your daughter deserves unconditional support regardless of how immoral her behavior is?”

Katherine’s chin lifted proudly. “I would do anything to protect my daughter. That’s what mothers do-something you wouldn’t understand, being an unaffiliated wolf with no pack to protect you.”
