Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 12

Estelle's POV

After Lance finished saying that I was his mate, everyone in the room was silent. And all I could hear was the sound of my heart beating violently. Mate? Mate! I chewed on that word over and over again, a word that would have been very far away for me. Many wolves looked forward to their mates. But I didn't think much about it, all I could think about was how I could have my own wolf.

The whole mate thing for me was like trying to fly without learning to walk. So when I heard Lance say that I was his mate. My mind went blank, I couldn't react with surprise or anything else. But my father Marvin reacted differently, he was angry, I didn't know why he was so angry. He went straight up and tried to punch Lance in the face.

But Lance was not an enemy he could resist. Lance stood still and did not move, he did not even blink. He let out his alpha aura, and a cold sweat immediately appeared on Marvin's face.

"Stop this trespassing of yours immediately!" Lance warned him.

"What are you going to do, I won't let you hurt Estelle!" Still in shock, I didn't pay attention to why Marvin was acting so overly aggressive.

"I got her into my territory just to protect her." Lance said to him.

"Protection? Do you think I don't know anything? What happens when others become the mate of people like you?"

"Watch your language, who do you think you're talking to?" Lance glanced at Marvin and then at me, "I was going to keep this under wraps forever, but she was found out."

"What do you mean?" Marvin asked him.

"There are people who suspect Estelle is my mate and they are using her to threaten me. There is no way I would allow that to happen."

"So you're going to keep her on your side? I don't think it's safer."

"I repeat, this is an order. Do you think I would allow someone else to take control of my mate?" Lance raised his volume, clearly, he was getting a little angry.

"Wait a minute, what are you guys talking about? Is anyone thinking about my feelings?" I wasn't sure what they were arguing about, but this was way off from what I had planned, and I was supposed to be settling in the Autumn wolves by now.

Nathan joined me, "You can't just cut a guy off the road and have him join your pack."

"As a matter of fact, I can. As far as I know, you have been driven out by the wolf pack."

"How do you know that?! And my home address, have you been spying on me?" I was displeased with his condescending attitude.

"It's a protective measure."

"You're so sick, what if I reject you? Would you lock me up? Or just kill me." I walked up to Lance.

"So I hope you will accept to live here." Lance turned his head to Marvin, "I can stay away from Estelle as long as she lives on my territory."

"You mean living under your 'watch'!" I looked up at Lance.

"I'm sorry, but you don't have a choice."

The air in the office fell silent as Lance resumed his chair. He was flipping through some papers, waiting for our answers. We couldn't turn around and leave Lance's office because we both knew that we really didn't have a choice. the solution Lance offered was already optimal, we just couldn't accept it psychologically.

It seemed that a century had passed, Marvin spoke up and said, "I have only one request, and that is to keep my children safe."

Lance looked up from his paperwork "No problem." He answered with such certainty that I suspected we were in his control every step of the way "I will secure your lives and you can swear to me."

Lance looked at me and said, "Wait a minute, I have something to tell you."

Both Marvin and Nathan finished their vows as if they were overdrawn, which made me nervous. Lance asked Irene to drive them home to rest.

"I'll have Irene take you to your new home, and if you have any requests, you can give her a message and she'll help you arrange everything."

Marvin gave me a stern warning with his eyes as he left the office. I didn't know what he was worried about, I couldn't feel the link between mates at all.

After Marvin left, Lance said to me as if he had read my mind, "I know you have a lot of questions, and now you can ask them."

"You've known we were mates for a long time, right? From the first time we met."

"Yes."

This was so humiliating that my face flushed involuntarily. I tried to get out of his arms, but I still had no strength in my legs. Lance looked at me with his eyes downcast, and a warm heat rose from the part of his body that was pressed against mine. I leaned against his chest for a while, and he just held me still. I didn't leave his firm arms until I had the strength to stand up.

"I'm going back." I said hastily to Lance, for swearing to collapse on top of the Alpha. God, this was so humiliating. I just wanted to escape this office now.

"Your new home, if there's anything you don't like, you can tell me." Lance said to me as he leaned over his desk.

I literally ran like hell out of the office. Irene took me back to my new home, and she talked a lot about their wolf pack along the way. The formulaic fake smile on her face and the perfect delicate makeup always made me think she didn't look like a real person. And she did call things perfect, which made her even more like an AI.

My new home was really very breathtaking. Although it borrowed from my previous home in terms of appearance, I was reminded everywhere from the materials to the finishes of how expensive it is. I heard a bunch of proper nouns in Irene's mouth that I had never heard before to describe a marble tabletop. Gosh, did anyone else get that treatment? Or was it because I was the Alpha's mate?

"If you're not interested in that, we can just skip to the school part." Irene caught me who had wandered off.

I couldn't blame her, I'd never heard of any of the brands she introduced. And her voice always stayed at one frequency, so it's easy to get distracted when I listened to her too much.

"School?"

"Yes, Alpha has already arranged everything at school. You can enroll anytime."

"Okay." School, I had almost forgotten about that. I didn't know what school was like in the Legion, but my past experience told me that group life was always not for me.

Irene left after explaining some chores, and my father Marvin straightened up from the couch and looked at me,"What did he tell you?"

"He didn't say anything, but you, do you know something? Why are you so scared?" Marvin had been acting unnaturally, and ever since he found out that I was Lance's mate, he had been emitting an air of unease.

"I don't know how to tell you." Marvin's expression was very difficult.

"Whatever you say, since it concerns me, I have a right to know, don't I?"

"Luna of the Clifford family always died a violent death, every single one."
