ELEANOR
His intoxicating scent hit me in an instant, invading my nose, but the more it lingered, the more I wanted to bury myself in my mate’s delicious scent. It smelt of pure haven. It comforted me in a way nothing ever had.
My mate’s fresh, minty scent invaded my senses, making its way to my system before I even realize what was going on.
No, not here. Not now. I bite my lower lip, closing my eyes firmly shut praying he doesn’t see me in this moment.
Don’t think.
Don’t feel.
And most importantly,
Don’t look.
This is what I swore myself to do the day I meet or just sense my mate.
My frozen body shifted and struggled under his hold. I could feel Louie cupping my breast harder. I bit my lip, grinding my teeth. My palm hurrily reaches up to stop his invading hand.
“Stop.”
He growls before harshly gripping my chin, spinning me before yanking me against his broad chest. The next thing I knew, my body banged as he sent me flying towards the brick wall.
Pain erupts along my back as hard bricks jammed onto my head and ass. He’d crashed my head into the wall too hard and the impact sent jolts of pain throughout my body. I gasp when I felt his hand on my throat once again, choking me.
His caramel brown eyes flashed with two golden rings glowing around his orbs, piercing through me. He growled. The pain was becoming too much for me to bear as he knocked the air right out of me. I instinctively reached for his hand when he barked, “NO ONE TELLS ME TO STOP! YOU HEAR ME? NO ON—”
"LOUIE!" I glance instinctively to the sound of Devin's voice.
Suddenly, the man released me as if he was pulled by some powerful force, some being who sent him flying across the hallway.
I gasped for air and felt my bones turn into jelly as I let myself collapse to the floor.
Except, I didn’t fall to a tiled floor. I fell right into the arms of...
'Mate!'
His scent alone made me feel very aware of his presence. My back was supported by thick, brawny arms of our mate and I feel his hand settle on my hip, holding me in place as if he was scared I'd fall.
My heart thumped wildly against my chest, I feel like I couldn't breathe. My system wouldn't seem to allow it.
I find myself heaving in a quick breath, inhaling his delicious perfume as he held me close.
Wait...
This smell...
A dangerous, threatening roar rumbled from his chest. Still, I kept my eyes closed. Not daring to open them and meet my mate in the eye.
No, it couldn't be him. I scold myself, shaking my head as I clenched my eyes tighter. There's no way..
I groped the wall for support, wanting to get off of him as quickly as I could.
Pushing his chest, I managed to release myself from his grip.
When I opened my eyes, I see my mate with his back turned to me.
The sight of him suddenly made me gasp. A frown settled in between my brows as I continue to stare at his figure from behind.
"Who the f*ck are you?!"
Louie jumped to his feet, groaning. I could hear his bones crack in every step he made towards us. He shot my mate a sharp, murderous glare evident with his bloodlust-filled eyes.
'That's supposed to be my question."
In an instant, he dashed towards him. I watched as he lifted Louie into the air using only his one hand.
“Shit!”
My hands clenched into fists as I gritted my teeth. Tearing my gaze away from Alex who was about to whip around towards me when I bolted to the exit door located just at the end of the hallway.
“Eleanor!”
I dashed to my destination, praying he wouldn’t catch up to me. Busting the door wide open, I took one quick step outside before I felt his hand pull my waist. Yanking me against his chest and it hits me again. His fresh minty scent that could make anyone drool with a passionate desire. Only that it intensified when he turned out to be my mate.
I gasped as he snatched my wrist whilst his other hand tightened its grip on my waist. Sparks of wild excitement erupted like hot, boiling lava traveling across every inch of my skin, on every part of my body. For a moment, time stopped. It was like everything around me faded as the very sight of him and his existence came to the spotlight.
He was handsome, I admit. Even more handsome now with his new look after he’s cut his hair short.
Whereas, my long, pink-red hair swayed gracefully on my back as I raised my head to gaze up at him.
“Mate,” I mumble involuntarily as if my mouth spoke on its own.
I watched as his cerulean blue eyes sparkled with desire and pure, intense lust but also with a faint hint of regret and guilt. I frowned.
“I’m sorry,”
The way he gripped my body told me he wasn’t planning to let go anytime soon.
I let my eyes travel over to his handsome face. His eyes a reflection of the wide ocean that glistened under the sun during a hot summer day, bright and clear. One would see a storm raging in those eyes when he’s angry, and an almost silent rain pouring gently when he’s engulfed in pain and melancholy.
Right now, his eyes glistened brightly the same way the ocean does on a striking, summer day. Only that those same eyes reflected persistent waves of spitting fire as they gazed into mine. He was guilty.
“Let me go.” My words coming out firm and crisp, and I stared coldly at him.
He hesitated at first, but slowly he released me from his tight grasp.
As soon as I find myself standing straight on the ground once again, I turned my back to him, folding my arms in front of my chest with an enraged expression on my sullen face.
"Ellie...I--" I cut him off instantly with three words.
“You're a liar.”
