Alpha's Cursed Luna novel Chapter 18

ELEANOR

I laid on the bed sidewards, against the window where you could see the mountains shrouded with trees. Light was illuminating from the window pane through the small gap of the yellow curtains draping on the tiled floor.

A peaceful feeling rose within me. Having the opportunity to sleep had given me the peace I was looking for, after a long while.

Even breathing feels so good. I took a deep breath and heaved it out softly through my nose.

There was something pleasant mixed in the air. A delicious minty scent. It was subtle yet sweet. Comforting me as it wafted through the air.

It’s getting stronger…

Where is it coming from?

Despite my curiosity, I didn’t try answering my own question by looking around. I was too sleepy to move. I couldn’t bring myself to even whip my head sidewards if I wanted to.

The massive weight of guilt and shame jumped onto my shoulders, refusing to be taken away. I shut my eyes tight, ignoring the pain and anguish it paid me tenfold.

“Ellie.”

Hm?

“Ellie.”

“Hmmm..” I moaned at the desire to sleep. Just a few more minutes. Just a few.

I didn’t move until something heavy was placed on my hip. I found it necessary to groan. I then forced my arm to move. Brushing away the hand digging into the side of my hips.

“Wake up, princess.”

The soft voice of Alpha Alexander brought out all of my energy in a surprise. Eyes forced open, I slowly turned my head until I met his longing gaze.

My eyes couldn’t help but glance at the wall clock.

5 pm!

I sat up, ready to apologize when he gripped both my arms in place.

I then tilted my head a bit. Confused as to why he’s stopped me abruptly.

“Is something the matter, Alpha?” I said gracefully. Ignoring the shudder that ran down my spine when we touched and kissed one another deeply. Hours ago. His grip on my arm was gentle yet firm.

He raised a brow, releasing my hip with his one hand before giving me a disgruntled look.

“Haven’t we discussed this already, Eleanor?”

I gave him a confused look.

He raised his brow higher.

What is he talking about? I stared at him while trying to remember what he said.

“Oh. Sorry,” I dropped my eyes to his lap. Afraid to gaze at him too closely and get caught in this trap.

I heard him let out a sigh.

“I didn’t wake you up because you looked so peaceful when you were asleep.”

“Sorry,” I bowed my head in embarrassment.

He pressed my chin softly in between his thumb and forefinger. Lifting it up slightly. Locking his eyes with mine.

“Do not apologize to me, Eleanor. Not to me, not to anyone.” His tone was dangerously serious.

I gulped.

“Okay.”

“Good. You must be hungry. What do you want to eat?” He slid his hands down my arms. His tone no longer intimidating as it was earlier.

“Nothing too fancy. Just a plain sandwich would be fine.” I shrugged.

The displeased look on his face told me he didn’t like my suggestion at all.

Did I say something wrong?

“What kind of food is that? Do you think that’s enough? Now that you will become my Luna, you need to fill your body up with plenty more nutrients than that.” He crossed his arm over the other. Huffing at my response.

“Oh.” I smiled awkwardly. To be honest, I was kind of hungry. Maybe I’m just not used to being asked what I wanted. It was always what my pack wanted out of me. Since Mike technically made me a pack slave rather than the Alpha’s daughter. Back then, Mike would always hand me just a plain sandwich every dinner. At times when my parents were busy during pack meetings. Which was all the time, actually. They never found out Mike had been taking food from my plate without them looking.

My wolf scoffed.

‘Did they even care? Even if they knew, they’re probably not gonna do something about it. Especially Victor.’ Ares now loathes the word ‘father’ or ‘parents’ after that last revelation about them. The mere fact that he only wanted to use me all along to his advantage made me lost all my respect and care towards them.

What kind of parent does that?

“Eleanor!”

“What, Ian?” Alex asked in a commanding voice. Brushing the scent away like nothing happened.

“I was calling your phone. You weren’t answering. But now I know why.”

The air around me suddenly felt gloomy with the heavy tension building up from these two brothers in front of me.

“I was distracted.” He quickly replied.

Pressing my lips into a thin line, I raise my head. About to ask for permission to leave when Adrian spoke.

Adrian scoffed. “You looked more than distracted to me. May I remind you there should be no pups before the mating. Haven’t I taught you that?” He announced firmly.

I heard Adrian sigh. “Yes, Ian. You did. Plenty of times.” He said a matter-of-factly.

“Good.” Suddenly, his tone changed.

“I’m just gonna go—” I started at the door, but Ian abruptly blocked me on the way.

“Sister-in-law, this matter concerns you too. There was an announcement made earlier by an ally pack and you need to hear this.” He eyes gave me a warning I couldn’t ignore.

“Okay.” I said obediently.

I dutifully went back to my spot beside Alex and straightened my clothes. Wrinkled from the wrestling I had with Alex a while back.

“What announcement?” Alex stepped forward inquisitively.

Adrian then brought out an opened letter and raised it to study the content.

“Alpha Arragon and Luna Savannah of the Wind Winders Wolf Pack have arranged the Royal Winders Dinner in the honor of Alpha Alexander and his new Luna, Eleanor Raven of the Red Silverwood Pack. We are supposed to be at the Okami hill at exactly 8pm tonight!” He concurred.

“From the looks of it, many other neighboring packs have been invited too, including the Blue Mountains Pack.”

I felt like my entire body crumbled at the mention of my old pack’s name. The pack that abandoned me and used me my whole life. A reminder of my parents who raised me just to throw me to the lion’s den to serve as nothing but meat for bait.

My hands balled into fists as I felt my wolf drown in utter hatred and rage. It was then that I felt the love I once held for my pack burn into ashes deep in my own darkness.

I succumbed to it. Drawing enough strength from it enough to banish the tears that formed right under my eyes.

“Let’s get ready.” I arched my small lips to form an enthusiastic smile, shocking not only Adrian but Alexander by my side. Looking at me with eyes wide in disbelief as I barely held back my excitement for this huge event.

It’s an opportunity I would never allow myself to miss. And it’s the only way they could taste my revenge, before I disappear from the world and live as a normal rogue, if I'm lucky, that is.
