We had to wait until the following day before we could catch another flight to Anchorage and it was a pretty peaceful flight. Especially in first class which I definitely wasn’t used to.
When we touched down and exited the plane I could feel the weather change immediately. It was a lot colder than before I left and I wasn’t even gone that long.
Maybe it’s just because I was in Seattle that this place feels a lot colder.
I didn’t really care. I didn’t have any luggage so I just waited for the guys to grab their bags and we were gonna go back to their house where I was going to meet their parents.
They also told me that because I was their mate, there was nothing wrong with me moving in with them. Which I thought was great.
I wasn’t going home to Marilyn and Jack and I didn’t know how Wendy felt about me right now, so home with the twins was probably the safest bet.
Besides, I had a lot to learn about the twins pack and I think the best place to learn that stuff would be at their house. They needed to teach me a lot about being a werewolf.
It took us a while to get through security and get the twins bags and then we started walking towards the front door of the airport, but as soon as I saw a couple of police officers walking towards us my stomach suddenly dropped and I stopped walking.
The guys looked at me with concern but I just stared straight ahead at the police officers and they walked straight up to us and stopped in front of me.
“Is there something wrong?” Tristan asked.
“Ella Davis?” One of them asked.
“Who wants to know?” Nathan asked, standing protectively in front of me.
The police officers looked him up and down and then gently moved him aside so they could talk to me.
“Ella. You have been reported as a missing person.” The policeman said.
“Who the hell reported me missing?” I asked.
“Your parents. Marilyn and Jack.” He said, looking at his notebook. And I rolled my eyes as soon as I heard that.
They had to be kidding. Is Marilyn really that desperate for my income that she would report me missing? She was more pathetic than I thought.
“Ella. If you’re scared then we can protect you.” One of the officers said, taking a step closer to me and trying to get between me and Nathan. “Are these two men the ones that took you?” He asked. And I almost burst out laughing.
“Are you serious? No. They found me and brought me back. They didn’t kidnap me.” I insisted.
“Are you absolutely sure?” The other one asked.
“Yeah. I’m sure. I’m fine and I’m going with these guys.” I said. But they turned and looked at the twins and then the police officers looked at each other.
“No. You’re not. We’re taking you home.” The policeman said.
“What? No. They can take me. We live in the same town.” I said.
“I don’t care. Let’s go.” The policeman said, trying to grab my arm but I pulled it away from him. I knew that if he touched me then the twins would do something that everyone would regret.
“I can walk on my own.” I insisted. And I looked back at the twins.
“Good. I didn’t want to come back here in the first place? Why file a missing persons report if you were just planning on kicking me out?” I asked. And she looked at Jack and then back at me. She actually had a look of shock on her face.
“You’re really leaving? Are you fucking kidding me? After everything I have done for you. Oh, I know what it is. You’ve found a little sugar daddy to take care of you, haven’t you? That’s what all of this is about. You really are nothing but a tramp.” Marilyn said. But I just stood there staring at her.
I didn’t expect anything different. She was going from filing a missing persons report, to kicking me out of the house and then stunned when I say that I am leaving. She was always going back and forth like this. It was best to try not to follow her moods otherwise you’d end up with whiplash.
“I met Dean Calvert.” I said, calmly. Stopping Marilyn from saying anything else as she stood there staring at me in stunned silence. I guess that really was the last thing she expected me to say.
She suddenly calmed down and Jack stepped forward to say something but Marilyn shot him a dangerous glare.
She grabbed some money out of her pocket and threw it at Jack.
“Get lost Jack. Go drown in some more booze.” Mariyln said, barely even looking at him.
Jack and I both looked at Marilyn in shock. She had never said anything like that to Jack before. She was always so nice to him and evil towards me. But the second I mentioned my father, she’s telling her husband to get lost.
I couldn’t believe that I actually lived long enough to see her do that.
Jack got really pissy after that so he grabbed his jacket and stormed out of the house.
Marilyn calmly took me to the kitchen and started making some coffee.
“So, how is your father doing?” Marilyn asked, way too calm for my liking. She was making me really uncomfortable right now and I wasn’t sure what to make of this sudden niceness.
