Alpha Twins And Their Hybrid Mate novel Chapter 40

I felt like my job had been going pretty well at the cafe. Except for the times when Sara would come in just to give me a hard time and there was nothing anyone could do. Not even the manager because they knew that she was Dean’s daughter. It was complete bullshit, but she was determined to make my life a living hell. She really didn’t want me here. No matter how much I stayed out of her way at home.

We only saw each other at meal times and that was by design. I made sure that I would come to work every day, even if I wasn’t rostered on or I would go to the research facility.

I just made sure that I wasn’t at home as much as possible. But she still managed to make my life a living hell.

One thing I thought was really odd with her though, I never saw her with anyone else. She was always alone.

She was the Alpha’s daughter but I never saw her come to the cafe with any friends or any guys that were hanging around her. She was always just by herself.

At times I found myself trying to take a step back and looking at it from Sara’s perspective. And I could see where she was coming from.

She was told her whole life that she was going to be the Alpha and then she finds out that she’s got an older sister and the oldest is always made the Alpha. So she sees me as taking away the one thing that she was trained for her entire life.

I guess I would be pretty pissed about that as well. I was the thief that was taking away everything that she had worked so hard for. The one that was stealing her father away.

I didn’t really know how to react to that one. I’ve never had to deal with anything like that before. I’ve never had a real parent before, so I don’t know what this sort of jealousy is like. I would have loved for someone to come and take Marilyn and Jack’s attention away from me.

So most of the time I just chose to ignore the little jabs that she would have at me and all those little tantrums that she would throw at the cafe. Besides, those tantrums just made her look like she was a spoiled brat. Which she kind of was, but I wasn’t going to feed into it.

I just had to hope that Sara would eventually ease up on me.

But of course, I wasn’t that lucky.

Sara came into the cafe again one morning and was served her iced coffee by another worker because they knew what she was like to me. But that didn’t stop her from coming around the other side of the counter and seeking me out.

“What? Is my big sister too good to even serve me now, is that it?” She asked.

“I’m working Sara.” Is all I managed to say without paying too much attention to her.

“I don’t care. I’m here now and you should be paying attention to me.” She said.

“Sara. If you want someone to pay complete attention to you then go home to your parents.” I said.

I tried to carry on with my work but Sara stood there looking at me in disbelief because I dismissed her so easily, so she walked up behind me and she pulled on the collar of my shirt and she tipped her iced coffee down the back of it.

I let out a scream at the cold ice that was pouring down my back and I turned around to look at Sara who looked really satisfied with herself.

“You miserable little brat.” I yelled.

“That’s right. Let’s go for it. It’s time to choose who daddy loves more.” Sara said.

I looked around and the staff was quickly getting people out of the cafe before something bad happened and the manager was on the phone with Dean.

“Only you would think that something like this would win his love. What the hell is wrong with you?” I asked.

She had our father for her entire life. I only just met him. Are the twins around here? I don’t have them. No matter how much I miss them, I’m never going to see them again.

But watching Sara stare at me the way she was, I had had enough. I didn’t care if she felt cheated anymore. She’s always had more than me and she didn’t know how to be grateful for that. So I grabbed a pitcher of ice water and tipped it directly over Sara’s head.

She started screaming while I stood there staring at her. I didn’t care how much noise she made, she was acting like a child who was just told ‘no’ by her parents for the first time.

Sara then took a step closer to me and even though she was shorter than me, she grabbed me around the throat.

But me being human and her being a werewolf. It was no competition. She had a lot more strength than I did.

I had noticed that everyone had cleared out of the cafe. The staff had closed the cafe and they weren’t around either. I wasn’t sure where they had gone, but they wouldn’t be able to do anything to help me. Not being Dean’s daughter. Probably another reason why she thought she could do whatever she wanted.

I reached up to try and break the seal of Sara’s grip around my neck as I was finding it really hard to breathe but I didn’t have any strength against Sara.

I then saw Dean walk through the back of the cafe and he saw what was going on inside.

“Sara. Let her go.” Dean ordered.

Sara finally let go of me and I fell back against the counter gasping for air when I heard a slap ring out that caught my attention.

I snapped my head up and Dean had slapped Sara across the face and Sara was holding her cheek, trying not to let the tears run down from her eyes.
