He placed food on her plate and reminded her to eat slowly. "Careful, Emmy. Don't rush."
Victoria sat across from them, keenly aware of Ethan's dislike. She remained quiet, which was one of the reasons Ethan hadn't left yet. The silence was preferable to her manipulations.
Partway through the meal, Ethan felt a strange heat spreading through his body. His throat became parched, and he reached for more water.
The heat intensified, radiating from his abdomen outward. He loosened his tie, initially attributing his discomfort to the heated room.
But as the sensation grew stronger, realization dawned. He had been drugged.
He looked at Victoria with extreme coldness, his amber eyes narrowing dangerously. How dare she? It had been over two years since he had been with a female, and he had suppressed those needs ruthlessly.
He had never reacted so strongly without Olivia. The drug was powerful, and he knew he needed to leave before it took full effect.
Ethan stood up abruptly, knocking over a glass of water. His mind raced, trying to identify when he had been drugged. He had only drunk one glass of water since arriving—the one Emma had given him.
"Emma!" he growled, unable to believe she would help Victoria drug him.
Emma, seeing his distress, looked up with concern. "Daddy, what's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
She looked nervous, abandoning her meal to reach out to him. She didn't know what Victoria had asked her to give her Daddy to drink. Victoria had only said that he must drink it.
She hadn't expected him to become so uncomfortable and angry afterward. She didn't want her Daddy to be angry. Looking at Ethan's pained expression, Emma grew so anxious that her eyes turned red.
The drug's effects intensified rapidly, blurring Ethan's vision and making his limbs heavy. He instinctively pushed Emma away when she approached, unable to control his strength due to the drug.
