Giovanni:
She thought she could sever me cleanly.
That she could break me simply because she wanted to.
She thought I’d kneel, that I’d shatter, that I’d fade into mist like the rest of them.
She believed that I would fall into her own lies.
But I built empires from blood. I carved my place into the bones of this world, and no woman, no wolf, was going to erase me.
If she had done it once, it was because I was in love with her. It was because I allowed myself to fall for her lies, but not again. Not after I remembered everything that she had done. Not after I made sure to fight back, to teach myself how to fight back mentally, as to stop her from whatever it was that she wanted to do.
I stood at the window of my estate, the one she hadn’t yet burned to the ground. The air was thick with ash and treachery. Below, my remaining men regrouped in silence, shaken, eyes cast downward.
They saw it.
They saw what she did.
We all saw what she did, and we all saw what she was capable of doing, what she would stop at. Nothing to do just for power. I saw it with my own eyes, and I knew that she was not going to stop there.
She’d turned on me in plain sight. Made a show of it.
She made everyone watch and I knew that she was not going to stop until she gained what she wanted. That is, of course, if I allowed her to get what she wanted.
This was not just rebellion. This was war.
And what made it even worse was the fact that it was a war within before a war going against my enemies. But I knew that I was going to need to hit two birds with one stone. I was going to need to destroy the girls, her, Damon and all the Lockwood family.
I refused to flinch. And I refused to give in.
Because Tatiana forgot one thing.
She may have raised monsters. But I created kings.
I was the one who made sure that everything stood the way that it did. I was the one who forged everything out of blood and I was not just going to back out because of her little threats.
“You’re sure the scouts were eliminated?” I asked, eyes locked on the horizon. “The last thing that we’re going to need is for someone to be watching what we’re doing. And she has many that are spinning around.
“Yes, sir,” said Marco, one of the last I still trusted. “Her new soldiers, if you can call them that, they tore through our border lines like they knew the land better than we did. They’re using her site, her memory. Somehow she’s the one guiding them through, but they were eliminated. Only the differences. She does not know that they were eliminated, at least not plainly. She might know, but…”
“I do not need doubt, I need certainty.” I said, stopping Marco from completing whatever he wanted to say. “I need you to be sure of the information that you’re going to give us. Hmm. OK, one of those actually. Ask G****e. Times that it has been totaled. So those dots there represents this was happening in this chapter, this was happening, this was happening and This is why. OK, what I was asking ask go back and read it and I noticed that is being bothered. So those thoughts there represents this was happening in this chapter, this was happening, this was happening and this way. Umm. Hey, Cortana. Hello. Goodnight, Mama. Huh.
Her scent still lingered. Faint. Cold. And vague, but now I no longer wanted to be around it.
She had taken the army I helped fund, corrupted the wolves I gave her, and turned my own shadows against me. But she left behind something more dangerous.
My wrath.
I looked at the dagger on the wall, the one I used to slit the throat of the first man who betrayed me in this war. I ran my finger down the hilt.
“You want death?” I whispered to the silence. “Then I will give you extinction. I will be sure that each and everyone that chose to defy me is going to learn their lesson. I’m not going to wake up, not again, and if it is love that I need to fight against, then it is what I’m going to do.”
And when Damon opens that letter… he’ll know.
He’ll know this isn’t politics anymore.
This is vengeance.
This is blood.
This is the beginning of the end.
